what time is deadline? Is is 12 as it's been 5 or 6 before, or is that when it's the 1st or something? Confusing.

Well they've had to move on from Sharp, mate ;)

Unlucky for them...mental as it is, Mackail-Smith would prob cost upwards of £4m, compared with £1.5m for sharp. Go figure.

1.5m is kind of crazy when you've seen the figures banded around for Jordan Rhodes etc.

Hope not.

Why on earth would we want a vastly experienced player who's not wanted at his current side and who played for one of the top ranked countries in the world in 2010's world cup... good point. ;)

Not saying "no" to it, think he could be the experience we need this year, and possibly next.

Downsides though, could be:

age - 32

I thought he was injury prone, but stand to be corrected on it having not closely followed the clubs he has been at for a few years

Two year contract at Stoke

Won't be low on the wage bill.

No he has three. He has a friend at radio Solent who sorts out tickets for the fans forums and is ITK as well.

He isn't ITK. He sorts me out for tickets to the fans forum. His name is James Luff (Jimmy Luff on the radio) and he reads out the non league scores if you care to listen.

never been a huge fan of Upson, but in the second tier he is going to be stand out. Looks like its a non starter though. In true Dalek repetitive style, get bloody Curtis Davies in now. Best CB in the league, weakens our direct opponents and with Brum's money problems he is gettable, all be it not for peanuts.

The fact we appear to be looking at a loan CB coming in suggests we are not looking to buy in this position, or we'd have been setting the deal up sooner.

That said, we've probably got a bit of our 'budget' left however having not shelled out the extra few £m on Hooper.

Curtis Davies probably a good choice though. And a GK!

Is it greedy to want just one more in? A quality CB on loan and we'd be all set I think. Absolutely buzzing about our chances now...what a transfer window this has turned out to be. The Sharp signing shows me that we really are going for it. COYR

I still think we need another striker in, maybe two more for cover.

We have Lambert, Guly, Connolly, Sharp, Lee and Barnard and you still think we need two more strikers?!

Whoosh!

Looking at it seems were trying to get a CB in on loan, I would love Curtis Davis in on a permanent. But just don't see it, but who knows! We can watch it all pan out tomorrow relaxed in the knowledge that we've probably got what we want, anything else will just be icing on the cake.

He signed for Aston Villa for about £10m then moved to Brum when they were still in the Premier League. At no point in any of this is he likely to have taken a pay cut, his wages will be massive.

We have 7 strikers, 5 centre halves and 5 wingers on the books and a lot of players on big money. We really need to let a few people go and trim down our wage bill. We're in danger of repeating out 07/08 wage bill which got us into administration.

Getting into the Premier might help with the financial side...

Vaz Te having West Ham medical. They will have 8 strikers and nobody to create for them!

Getting ravel Morrison today too, so sure he will help set them up

Not a problem if all you do is hoof it up from the keeper! Big Sam has done his homework!

Well it's on ssn that he is travelling to London today, was on the paper round up that he is signing for £300k plus add ons and was being reported by some journalists on twitter too.

Been told by the father in law of a lad that works at SMS that we are after a CB that has played for England, must be Upson as mentioned on this thread.

Vaz Te will have played for Allardyce at Bolton so can see the connection there. Sure Man Yoo said they wouldn't let Morrison leave but maybe that's changed. TBH I don't mind if West Ham strengthen too because they will take points off our rivals for us. Two auto promotion spaces up for grabs & I'd be pleased with 1st or 2nd!!

Pearce from pompey.

This is from the same source who told me Sharp was a done deal in November.

Would suit me. I've been saying since he was at Bournmeouth that he is worth a look... and it would be especially sweet to take him off the skates.

I suspect though that any deals with Portsmouth today will be really messy. No one seems to be quite sure who is in charge there, whatever the offical position, and Lampitt is either(a) a blitheringidiot or (b) has some sneaky plan involving admin at a later date.
