I'd have thought it would have been the other way round. The players would need to come to us.

to get "top drawer" you have to pay top draw wages which cortesi appears reluctant to do.

 

Im not sure thats true - Cortese will pay prem wages, but only once we are actually there. Saints are in a bit of a catch 22. We want a top striker who can perform in the prem - ie one who other top level clubs would want also. Those players have other options arent going to commit to us until promotion is guaranteed - and our current wobble wont be convincing them that is certain.

Given Adkins has to do a pre-match press conference, I rather doubt it.

 

Another one for the doubt pile, a Mirror journalist seems to think we tried to sign Matthew Upson on loan and are going for Danny Collins as second choice. This is how stupid it gets in this window, we're linked with someone that is first choice at a Premier League club. Never going to happen.

 

To be honest, it may not even be true we want Collins!

In the interests of your own health, can I recommend that those who are likely to get a bit anxious about the slightest tweet mentioning Saints, just go away and do something else for the day? Seriously. You'll kill yourself worrying otherwise and that would then be one more thing for people to blame the club for, not to mention the paperwork...

Nah Upson barley players there. I think I read that as Upson being 'our' first choice option.

upson is not first choice no more at stoke and it was reported he is unhappy at lack of first team action. i think he been on the bench for last few games.

If we couldn't come to terms with Collins, and Upson was our 1st choice, whatever made us think we'd agree terms with Upson?!

 

(Fair play to us if Upson was 1st choice though)

Carlos Tevez has been linked with a loan move back to West Ham,maybe it is worth putting in a cheeky offer :),I have a feeling that wages would be a slight issue though

But if the other rumour that this was with a mind to a permanent transfer is correct, then presumably we'd want to fix long term wages too, and probably at less than he's on now, at a premier league club , especially as he's getting on a bit.

Was he in departures or arrivals? Perhaps he is meeting Hooper who has come down for a look-see and a trip to Ikea before signing.

A similar article popped up in the summer re: Jack Cork, that was announced in the next few hours on our OS.

I hope this issue has been thrashed out in the last few weeks,and there will be no surprise in store for either party.

If you believe there's a salary cap in place, you have to wonder if there'll be any other business if he does sign.
