I guess we could be holding out for someone else.

We did that for Gorrks and it bit us in the arse. We keep playing these games!

Although we were fortunate Hoovield turned out to be the addition he was, but I don't believe he was ever first choice.

Jemal and Gorrks all over again etc...

Blah blah. Based on a rumours which are now concrete facts (not). The only thing we know for sure is that we signed Hooiveld, who has been outstanding and probably a far better player than either Gorkss or Jemal would have been.

Simon Peach just tweteed that something is going on at Saintsfc......

...and so begins another false dawn...

tbf if you are going to start a rumour those are the words you would use if you want to be proved right. Something is, of course, as always happening at SFC. Simon Peach may not know what it is, but that aint going to stop him tweeting...

Ok, maybe the collins deal has hit a snag. Now the twitter journo says so.

What snags can a loan deal bring???

If (and I use the word if in it's most severe meaning as we are talking daily mirror here) Nixon is to be believed he was having a medical so maybe that shown something up.

Please let us sign sharp. Please. I am prepared for disappointment so anyone we do get will be great.

Im not so convinced by Sharp. He is Doncaster's main striker and penalty taker yet 11th in the scoring stats well behind RL, Kevin Philips (who is 38 ), Guly and others. Henderson at Millwall - who are struggling like Doncaster - has 50% more goals.

Is the 11th best striker in the championship really waht we need in the prem?

He was injured for a fair chunk of this season - so taking into account his goals per minute he's pretty prolific.

Surely there must be one deadline day that isn't a huge let down.

In what way would it be a huge let down? We've already brought in a striker and 2 wingers, as well as getting Jos signed permanently. Barnard and Jaidi are back in the matchday squad and Seaborne is apparently starting training soon.

Why the need for some big Hollywood ending to a transfer window. Our squad is much stronger now than it was before January.

The deadline day, not the transfer window.

Sharp is quality. Put him in the SPL and he'd score just as many as Hooper IMO.

I like Hooper, but I think a 2m Sharp is better value than a 7m Hooper.

Nige has worked with both, so he's in a good position to judge who's better.

hot off the press from Simon Peach -

For those asking on potential #SaintsFC movements, it is all vague at the moment. If I know anything, I will tweet it.

phew, I'm glad he's cleared that up then, the suspense was killing me.......

SSN reporting that Collins has failed to agree personal terms. (according to twitter)

Another one that bites the dust due to our wage structure. Fair play for us not wanting to break it, but if we want to progress further, we'll need to.

Maybe it wasn't a loan afterall.

In the interests of your own health, can I recommend that those who are likely to get a bit anxious about the slightest tweet mentioning Saints, just go away and do something else for the day? Seriously. You'll kill yourself worrying otherwise and that would then be one more thing for people to blame the club for, not to mention the paperwork...

TBH, I'd rather it was Collins failing to agree terms than Sharp (if it is him we're after). I'm sure we can source another back up centre-half from somewhere but first choice strikers have proved harder to come by!

Fair comment. I agree at those prices Sharp is better value. Also think he would help us get promoted this year. But beyond this season would he cut it in the prem?, not convinced.

Grant Holt and Steve Morrison seem to be getting on just fine, and you wouldn't have classed them as players who could cut it in the premiership.

The quality of teams at the bottom end of that league now is shocking, so any half decent player can make an impact.

I think Sharp will be good acquisition to help our promotion charge but IMO he is not good enough to play in the premiership. I think the problem is that Adkins has the same opinion and cortesi maybe reluctant to spend on a player that could be redundant next season. sharp deal could be sown up now but I get the feeling adkins really wants "top drawer" striker. danger with this is that sharp will loose patience and join reading or stay at donny. to get "top drawer" you have to pay top draw wages which cortesi appears reluctant to do.

I don't think we're the sort of club to do last minute deals these days. My gut feeling is we won't see anyone else in before the deadline. Still we've brought in, on paper at least, two decent new players as well as bringing a decent player back into the fold. Injuried players are coming back into contention and one ot two of the youth guys have played and not embarressed themselves so all in all I'm not to worried.

A CB on loan to cover the injuries at the back would be good ......but I'm not holding my breath.

Thing is is he worth breaking our wage structure for?

I suspect he may have been back up anyway

Sarah Gomme from ITV tweeted that Adkins has been seen at Soton Airport (obvs buying a coffee) - heading to Glasgow???

He's leaving the country before the doom, angst and recriminations of SWF descend upon him.
