Big Ben - HCDAJFU. Good height from corners, deadly accurate and always on time for training. Good with his hands too, would make a good keeper.

We can still do deals with South America and Russia as their windows are closed yet.

and probably for a while after as well , just tell the FA we bought our fax machine from Birmingham City.

Iain Dowie saying QPR did the best business this window - I think WBA have done very well. Ridgewell and Andrews, quality additions.

Is that confirmed ?

Poor move by the player if true.

Almost - probably a late confirmation on that one.

Agreed a £3m deal with Bolton and was pulled from the Watford squad at the last minute by the owner.

Bit of a bummer for them, no time to get a replacement in. Although good result tonight nevertheless.

What's the rest of it called?

Can I cheat and use Wiki?

I think it's "The Clock Tower of Westminster" or something. Although most people generally accept Big Ben as the whole clock's name.

Turned of SSN now, bit boring.

Their mega deals are Zamora to QPR, and Jelavic to Everton. Great.

Great for the clubs, but for a neutral a total damp squid.

In fact this window has been pretty slow for everyone, compared to last year's 200 odd million, only around £50m spent this year. Maybe clubs are taking this fair play policy into consideration?

In the grand scheme of things we've done better than most.

QPR - Quality Players Recruited..... How long did it take them to think that one up?

Re QPR. Hughes is straight out of the Bryan Robson School of Management , spend big on average players to achieve mediocrity at best.

Agree about WBA, Hodgson is a shrewd manager( in stark contrast to Hughes) who does not need to fritter millions for the sake of his own ego.

You have to wonder why they're signing strikers.

Might be some mileage in the Hooper to Russia talk, and that window is still open for a month.

We still could get Hooper or Collins in on a loan if Celtic succeed in finding players to cover the positions. Despite signing Sharp I still believe that Hooper is a priority for Adkins as he prepares for the Premiership/

Think we have to wait till the summer to get anyone from Scotland. It's only england that has the loan window open.

Perhaps clubs have seen the folly of spending ludicrous sums. Out of last January's £200m, I don't think Carroll and Torres have achieved much for the £85m between them.

squib even...:?

Late night pedantry on my part. :-)

I see Paul Lambert at Norwich signed Ryan Bennett from Posh, an England U21 centre back. That man has a real eye for a lower league bargain - a great transfer policy.

Yeah Norwich do their business very well. Very shrewd. Same as us really....

He's gone back to Posh for the season though iirc.

Hmm, Maynard to WHU, not good...

I'm sure they said the same when they saw ''Sharp to Southampton''

I think the chasing pack will be most worried about these two.

Surely West Ham is the worst career move possible if you're a striker,

8 players in thd same position when only two start and two on the bench, who's going to miss out? Lots of egos to deal with.

Traditionally, people speak about January being the time teams panic buy for ridiculous prices but looking at the rumoured prices for some of our summer striking targets, it seems transfers this year have bucked the trend a little:

Billy Sharp - (rumoured to be) £2 million - summer £3.25 million (Saints bid)

Nicky Maynard (rumoured) £2 million - summer £6 million (supposed Leicester bid)

Marvin Sordell (rumoured) £3 million - summer £4 million (supposed Saints bid)

Bristol City must be kicking themselves, it was actually £6m rising to 8m. Sven and his stupid spending policy

Think in general we had an excellent transfer window offensively, but terrible defensively. Have to utilise loan market to tighten up or promotion will be beyond us.

has his goals and performances in the first half of the season done enough to keep them up? That might be worth a few bob.

This paper said we released Saville last night.

http://www.times-series.co.uk/sport/localsport/9506680.Saville_set_to_rejoin_Bees/

Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez said after that match that the Bees couldn’t complete a deal with the Saints about extending the loan and Saville returned to the south coast.

However, Saville and Southampton came to an agreement on Tuesday night to release the defender and he now looks set to permanently join the Bees.
