red&white56 Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 If you think we're bad now just thank yourself you're not back in the 70's / 80s - I went to many away game and there wasn't more than a few hundred (if that) Saints fans present and there was no singing because if you did sing, you got wacked by the local loonies who were also in the away end with you. I still think if we have a home end - not shared with the visiting fans (they can go in a corner) - we might be more creative and better with our sinhing and choice of songs - this will then translate to the away games as well. Despte this I enjoy away games much more - usually there are more fans willing to sing than not - am looking forward to Brum away !
Stu Man Do Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 Too many of our fans turn up to games and are happy to sit quietly watching the game without so much as clapping along or calling encouragement to ever get a really good atmosphere going. Worst thing I find is the dirty looks some people give you for having the sheer audacity to try and get involved in the singing!
skateh8r Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 I far from agree with Brady. If you look at our attendances in league one great support 40,000 plus at wembly for the jpt I agree with her with regards to the boo boys however results and the way we have played over 8-9 games is far from satisfactory. I also think our originality with songs could be far better! When we go to west ham I think it would be good to have some banter with her! Like singing our support is ****ing ****, which it isn't but just for a laugh then to the tune of top the league your having a laugh f**k off Brady your having a laugh! Then some banter which I'm far from sexist as I'd like to see more women involved in football and watching it as I'd rather watch it than soaps lol but maybe a chant of do you know the offside rule! To the tune off your support is f*****g s**t. Just a thought!
latter day saint Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 everytime i read one of these "our support was shyte" threads i wonder what people see as a solution ? do you want us be like the Ultra's you see abroad. although the results are often impressive, i personally dont feel comfortable with groups & committee's arranging songs & set pieces to be performed by the fans or having leaders orchestrating us. we need a middle ground ,maybe using the forums to sort some stuff out? problem is though that when others have tried this in the past its died a quick death. Elias Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 There were too many middle aged women, kids and old people yesterday. All sitting down and staying silent and spoiling it for those of us who do actually want to support the team.

Orange Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 Talking of dirty looks etc. Near me there was a very young nipper, trying to start some songs up. Acctual good songs- getting behind the team. The only two people that tried to help the poor lad was me and my brother. Those around him even started to s****** at him, and give him looks etc. What a joke. I'm used to recieving dirty looks for trying to start songs etc from the zombie c*nts. To those who say its about noise not songs- do you not find most songs aimed at the other fans utterly cringey, and quite frankly very odd. Bar the odd one. Small town in West Ham for starters? I remember at Brighton at home i'd been trying to get the Itchen North going, just to get the same old misserable response. Then as soon as we go 1 up everyone perks up and starts singing all the 'your not singing anymore', 'shall we sing a song for you', just an example of the many face palm moments. kpturner Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 People get their enjoyment at football matches in many ways - it is not compulsory to have to shout yourself hoarse if that is not your bag. I did all my singing, chanting, abusing the opposition fans etc back in the 80's. Now I just want to watch the football. Live and let live. View From The Top Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 I think all the keen young things on this thread should write a pamphlet about what we should do to make us all as supa dupa as them as some of us middle aged types haven't been there, seen it and done it. All this self anaysis and critism is pointless never been to a major game where saints fans have been a let down
SuperMikey Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 Everytime i tried to join in with a song in the middle yesterday, when the vast majority were being started from the left of me, people just turned around and stared at me in disgust. Singing must be a crime. That will have been me Started 10 chants from down the front of Block 22 (not that I was counting! ). Support was pretty poor all round, Millwall were sh!te until they scored.

Fan The Flames Posted 29 January, 2012 Share Posted 29 January, 2012 It is hardly an original tune for a chant. Man Utd certainly aren't the first to use it. Not the tune but half the words are Man U the otht half are pompey obsessed. its a **** song.

Fan The Flames Posted 30 January, 2012 Share Posted 30 January, 2012 What a bunch of paranoid girls we have talking about getting 'dirty looks', here's some thoughts of a midle aged bloke; maybe they are not dirty looks just people interested in who is starting the chants, maybe you are singing the same old pompey crap that people are fed up with or small town near west ham nonsense. Maybe you shouldn't care if you are being so great then carry on regardless. It was easier in the terrace days as like for like would stick together, now we are all mixed up getting ****ed off we each other.
a1ex2001 Posted 30 January, 2012 Share Posted 30 January, 2012 Been to a dozen or so away games in the last couple of seasons and guess what ................ I'm quite happy to sit in my seat and enjoy watching the game!!!!! Sorry for being such a rubish supporter but the reason I go is to WATCH the footy if I wanted to sing and dance I'd go join the line for Britains got Talent. I'm much less bothered by those like myself who sit and enjoy the game than the moronic yoof who seem to follow us around the country giving it the big I am bunch of feckless inbred idiots. sfc4prem Posted 30 January, 2012 Share Posted 30 January, 2012 I don't give a **** anymore if people stare at me/think I'm a butter when I sing songs on my own in an attempt to spark up other fans' singing voices. I will continue to do so and have lost any embarrassment I once would have experienced. If people want to sit there in silence, let them. I just hope they never criticise our support.
