Massive game obviously, hopefully we will have a few people back fit. I'd like to see us line up with

Davis

Frazer - Fonte - Martin - Fox

Puncheon - Cork - Morgan - Lallana

Lambert - Guly

Subs: Bart, Jaidi, De Ridder, Falque, Lee

good shout! looks strong.

perhaps connolly alongside lambert though perhaps?

This game is massive. Bench is starting to look a bit stronger which is much needed. Maybe a spot for chappers too? 2-1 saints!

There isn't room on it for Barnard, DC, Harding or Hammond. Someone else will have to make way for Chaplow when he is fit too. Strong competition indeed.

A must win. It's so important we get the three points on Tuesday to open up that 4 point gap, both in League terms and mentally. We're reaching the tail end of the injury crisis, and have the new boys on board. Find that home form again and we'll be all ready to push for automatic promotion as the season comes to an end.

I doubt if Puncheon will play, perhaps he will be on the bench. Guly at RM like at the start of the season?

Not a fan of this. He really doesn't do enough tracking back to play in midfield and he has left us badly exposed a few times in the pass. I'd have said his main attributes were his movement in the box, heading and finishing. To me it would be like playing Rasiak on the wing.

If Puncheon isn't fit enough, I'd go with Steve De Ridder. I know he wasn't that good today, but I think in a home game with more possession and playing in our strongest 11 on the right side, he will be much better.

really looking foward to this game and feel its one we will do well in. i wasn't atall confident about the leicester because of the numbers missing, but with the players returning and new signings now i fancy us to still be in the top two come wednesday.

Davis

Frazer Martin Fonte Fox

Sdr Hammond Cork Puncheon

Lambert Connolloy

bench could be made up from any of the following Bart,Harding, jaidi,Chaplow,Reeves,Holmes,Cork,Lallana,T.Lee, Barnard

Huge game for both teams! So pleased RL is back for us. 1-0 to Saints but beware Kenny Miller. Sadly, my grandson and I will miss the game due to a family birthday night out. The first game we will have missed in 3 seasons. COYR's!

Massiv game, biggest of the season IMO. Lose and I can really see the promotion bid derailling big time. Win and it will put some breathing space between us and 3rd again. Will be a very nervy night for sure. Saints to go 2-0 up, Cardiff to get a goal back midway through the 2nd half and the last 20 minutes or so will feel like 20 hours as we desperately hang on for the win. All IMO!

Now we have players back we must go back to our 4-4-2 with two attacking players out wide rather than Cork or Morgan playing out there!

Without midfield control we just cannot play our game, so I would not weaken the midfield to get more attacking players in the line up, not from the start. Even when we had an in form Lallana and Oxo on the wings they would not get the supply if the midfield could not do their business. The best line up I have seen would be

Davis

Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox

Chaplow Cork Hammond Lallana

Lambert Guly

With Ricky leading the line and Guly in attack or midfield. The trouble is that form and injuries will not allow this at present, but the closer we get to this the better we will be IMHO. I am not keen on dropping Guly back to RM and have someone like Connolly or Lee alongside of Ricky, but it's a lot better than some of the options and worth considering.

Davis

Richardson Fonte Martin Fox

Guly Cork Schneiderlin Lallana

Lambert Connolly

Looks a good compromise, but I would far prefer to see Chaplow in there (then Guly goes alongside Lambert), even Puncheon from the reports at Millwall, but will they have enough in the tank? If Lallana is not at 100% I would not start him until we get the proper one back and even prefer to see Harding start in that positioin. I just don't know what players can put in a shift and what sort of a performance we can get out of them, something Adkins will have to juggle as best as possible. Cardiff are a good team but not the same strength as Leicester and as long as we don't give them the midfield, we should get something out of this game. As good as the Leicester midfield were, if Harding was not playing out of position on the right and those chances came to Lambert instead of Connolly, it's not impossible to get the draw.

How annoying to have to play such an important game when the transfer window closes at 11pm. Hope NC/NA have smartphones and make offers through the game!!!

Too true. Also a shame that we can't sign Whittingham at half time, live on the pitch, and have him playing for us in the second half! A game on deadline day does get in the way, but hell, I'm at work, and will miss everything anyway.

There is a rumour, although not sure how concrete, that all clubs are pushing for the window to extended until 5pm on Thursday - as all premiership teams play mid-week too, so it's not favorable for anyone.

TBF with a month of transfer window before hand, clubs haven't really got a leg to stand on. It's definitely been one of the quietest transfer windows in memory.

Yes, its like doing your Christmas shopping on the 24th December and having to buy the presents from the 24hour petrol station.

On current form Birmingham will win this league at a canter with Cardiff in the other automatic promotion place. Leicester seem to be the most likely to go up from the play-offs as well.

I had us down to lose 2-0 to Leicester on Monday and sorry but it'll be 1-2 on Tuesday, we just aren't good enough at the moment to stop the momentum of the in-form teams, oh and guess what, we play at Brum on Saturday "Oh! ****!"

What we must worry about is if we lose both - and with half a team missing it is hard to see any different results - will the confidence of our lads be irrevocably damaged with only 17 games left after that for Adkins to try to rebuild morale and a good run.

I'm prepared for the abuse from deniers but does anybody have a credible alternative view?

What the same Brum that we battered 4-0 at the beginning of the season? They were one of the poorest sides I've seen this season. They probably thought we'd run away with it after we played them. Form can change in an instant as we well know.

Also, you must be kidding about Leicester? They are 7 points away from the play offs altogether...they played well on Monday but are a long way from being they most likely to go up through the play-offs!

If we can beat Cardiff then I'm confident we will go up in top 2. The main contenders for me are WHU, us and Cardiff - Brum will fade away imo.

I'd rather play Lee and have Guly on the right. I absolutely hate seeing all 3 of those in the same team.

No disrespect to any of them, because they're all terrific players, but we loose so much attacking flow and quality with those 3 in the middle. All too static.

I doubt Saints signed Tadanari Lee and pay him £15k p/w, for him not to even be on the bench.

Our problem on Monday was a static midfield, but with Punch in the team we'll have some genuine width. Guly doesn't work hard enough defensively to play at RM. I would play SDR but he's not match fit.

looks ok to me, this is a game we will have to fight to win, i would sacrifice the beautiful flowing football others mention to grind out a 1 nil win like against West Ham

I wonder if any Japanese tourists in the country will be tempted to come to a game if they know he's playing in the future? Our crowds don't seem to be very diverse...

My Mrs is Japanese and attends a few games a season. Chun signing for us may up that number. I expect a few of her friends may have more than their usual meh level of interet when I bring up saints.

The first two home reverse fixtures have resulted in the opposition completing the double over us, hope that's not an omen for Tuesday. I wonder if Adam is long term injury and thats why Puncheon was reprieved. Chaplow could be nearly ready, who thought Barnard was fit enough to start yesterday, he was right off the radar.

It's time to put up or shut up!

I realise that there's only three points at stake, but after a rather indifferent few weeks, Saints have got to take games by the scruff of the neck. This is a bloody good one to start with. Let's start the run-in from now! COYR

Can't underestimate the importance of taking the lead for this one. Going 1-0 down after 2 home losses without scoring would be really tough. But go 1-0 up and they'll hopefully find some confidence again.

Thats the spirit. So do you think we'll win?

Personally, I reckon it'll be a draw.
