Saint_Donovan Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Jumping on the back of the Puncheon thread, how did our new import do in his brief appearance?
Pilchards Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 how did our new import do in his brief appearance? He played in his underpants, blimey us southern softies need to man up in this weather then.
Saint_Donovan Posted 28 January, 2012 Author Posted 28 January, 2012 I'm ashamed to say that made me laugh
ladysaint Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Anyone else get interviewed by Japanese tv today caught me before the game. Not the best debut I have seen but then again not the worse, he needs to move for the ball not just wait for it, he looked paced.
SNSUN Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Is this like that birdwatching thing? You know, if I see a Tadanari Lee in my back garden I'm supposed to tell someone?
Raging Bull Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 *Tadanari He's only been joining for the last month!!!!
Matthew Le God Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 I bet it is one of these... The must have watch at my school in the mid 90's.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Any more objective observations of his performance from those who were there?
saints-cris Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 He looked bloody fast I tell ya that. Looked to stay very central rather than going out wide. Main thing for me was that he looked to get behind with pace. A different option definately
stcappy Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Although he didn't get many touches, I thought he looked a good addition. He was definately pacey, especially over short distances. It was his movement though that struck me. It was different class. Reminded me a bit like a younger version of Connolly. If the lad can finish I don't think we will be disappointed. A few commented having viewed the YouTube video of him that they doubted he would get as much space here as he seemed to have in that. Whilst there is something about the standard of defences, I wouldn't underestimate the role his movement played in creating it. Also impressed that he didn't shy away from the physical stuff. Won a couple of headers and lost one block tackle - but he didn't back out. Looking forward to seeing him again.

Main thing for me was that he looked to get behind with pace. A different option definately Yep, he looks the type to make curved runs off the last defender and he definitely has a turn of pace. Physically I don't think he will have any problems at all; he looks quite strong. For a free transfer, he looks a bloody good prospect! He is bound to take a little while to find his groove though and learn the best way to interact with his new team mates.
ooh it's a corner Posted 29 January, 2012 Posted 29 January, 2012 I want to be 13 again, just so I can have one of those....
Griffo Posted 29 January, 2012 Posted 29 January, 2012 Was stood behind what I presumed to be his missus during the game on Saturday. She was Asian and waved to him at the final whistle. Scared the sh*t out of her punching her chair infront of me when Millwall equalised. Oh, and she looked a bit anxious when I was singing 'Lee, Lee, wherever you may be, you eat dogs in your home country'.
Matthew Le God Posted 29 January, 2012 Posted 29 January, 2012 I want to be 13 again' date=' just so I can have one of those....[/quote'] I had a lot of fun confusing old supply teachers with mine.

Maybe she's the first of the new wave of Japanese fans that we'll pick up through having Lee in the team...

Graffito Posted 29 January, 2012 Posted 29 January, 2012 He made one diagonal run so fast I thought he was teleporting.
callysaint76 Posted 29 January, 2012 Posted 29 January, 2012 (to oh crouchy crouchy) oooooh Tadanari, he came from Japan... to eat your dog! Next song please....
OfnPanad Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 Trying to come up with a simple song that covers 2 of our so far "unsung" heroes as well as Lee.... Hooiveld is from Holland Schneiderlin's a frog They'll pass to Lee, he'll take a touch Then score and eat your dog. (to "my old man's a dustman") Who came up with the RL Goal Machine song? We need some more like that. As much as I hate Pompey it's all we bloody sing about. Need some more clever ones like that or Our Claus/José Fonte Baby
SNSUN Posted 30 January, 2012 Posted 30 January, 2012 That wasn't his Mrs. It was his brother! Oh. Really? Well, erm, In my defence, he was a pretty guy and I was drunk.
