He's from Chester (Buckley to be precise, just over the border) so he must be good! He was raved about as a youngster and turned nto a steady prem performer. I am happy, he deffo adds depth and adequate cover.

As the man said! :-)

I don't know the finer points of the rules BUT;

He has played ONE European game for his club side Stoke this season

AND... one League game for Ipswich ON LOAN...

Isn't there some rule about NOT playing for more than TWO clubs in the same season ? .

I recall the discussions about JP not being playing for us earlier this month ... because he couldn't be transferred /loaned out afterwards ?

I think JP played for us and then two emergency loans to Blackpool and Millwall. I think emergency loans are OK but you can't be permanently transfered and play for more the two teams in a season. Hence we can only sign Collins on loan at this stage.

There is a time frame for "loans" after the window closes, but I think emergency loans onlt applied to the " injured goalie" situation!

As that is a very specific role in the team. Otherwise you have to use the players you have.

I still think it's a question that needs to be addressed...Nigel !

I'm sure he knows what he is doing!

Oh dear, he's been gash for Stoke and got dropped for Wilkinson about this time last year. Ipswich managed to concede 3 or more goals 4 times when he was playing...

Almost sounds as gash as Hooiveld before he came here...

I've actually seen Collins play a few times though, for Stoke and Wales - not to mention that I didn't judge Hooiveld before his arrival as I hadn't seen him. Doesn't play much for Wales though as... erm... Sam Ricketts plays ahead of him.

Danny Higginbotham has kept him out of the Stoke side on occasion too, which is hardly a glowing reference.

Still, he can't be worse than our last signing from Stoke.

Thank f*ck the greedy bastard didn't manage to agree terms.

Maybe he knew about the Leicester bid just before he put pen to paper for us, I expect Stoke is not a million miles away from Leicester so it suits him down to the ground that one.

In response to a saints fan asking why we couldn't agree terms when he joined Ipswich on loan earlier in the season without problems

He must be wanting some mental wages.

Totally. He wasnt even listed in the Stoke 25 - kept out by Danny Higginbottom of all people. As Alan Nixon said, reality check needed.

Saints back in touch with Stoke about Collins this morning ...so deal not dead yet ...just been on SSN

Just seen that also, the Sky reporter said he'd just spoken to Danny Collins on his way in to the training ground. He thought it was a done deal earlier in the week only for it to fall through, but we've been back in touch this morning. So watch this space.

The Sky reporter was on his way to our training ground or Danny Collins was on his way to our training ground? Or both...?!

Agent was wanting too much apparently caused it to break down first time.

According to Alan Nixon the reason was ''so trivial'' that he expected it to be resolved.

The sky reporter was stood outside Stokes training ground & spoke to Danny Collins on his way into Stokes training ground.
