Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 In on loan from Stoke according to Alan Nixon the Mirror journo. Centre half or LEFT BACK!
Saint Charlie Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 According to Mirror journalist on Twitter. Would be great cover for Jos while injured. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Collins
hypochondriac Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 The sort of thing I wanted. Hopefully till the end of the season. Striker please and we are sorted.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Scored 3 in 16 for Ipswich earlier in the season and linked with a move to Bolton last week. Sensible loan.
S-Clarke Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Would be fantastic cover. He was terrific for Ipswich when he was there a few weeks back. Maybe not quite premiership quality, but a top player at this level for sure.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Mirror journalist said he thinks its for the rest of the season.
hypochondriac Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 So not really cover for jos then, more of another option. Good because it's what we needed. Adkins has done what I expected so far. One new striker (sharp hopefully) and it will have been a great window.
shurlock Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Would be fantastic cover. He was terrific for Ipswich when he was there a few weeks back. Maybe not quite premiership quality, but a top player at this level for sure. Still didn't help them to keep a clean sheet.
sambosa75 Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 The sort of thing I wanted. Hopefully till the end of the season. Striker please and we are sorted. Sort of agree but would like to see a pacy wide man brought in too, although hopefully Puncheon will play that role. If thats the case, 1 more forward and happy days.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 January, 2012 Author Posted 28 January, 2012 As a left sided CB, might suggest Jos' injury is worse than first thought? Guess it would depend on the length of the loan.
sotonist Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Or the rumours of harding moving away on loan might be true.
S-Clarke Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Still didn't help them to keep a clean sheet. If you think keeping clean sheets is down to a single player then you're a little naive!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 As a left sided CB' date=' might suggest Jos' injury is worse than first thought? Guess it would depend on the length of the loan.[/quote'] And if it actually happens.......

One new striker (sharp hopefully) and it will have been a great window. Exactly - all this talk of average backup signings etc is rubbish. This guy will add to the squad, but is as good as our other players - so we're not worried if/when he has to step in! Exactly the right transfer policy to adopt.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 January, 2012 Author Posted 28 January, 2012 Journalist says season long loan. Full on back up then. Good stuff.
del boy Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 If you think keeping clean sheets is down to a single player then you're a little naive! possibly a big naive
shurlock Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 (edited) If you think keeping clean sheets is down to a single player then you're a little naive! Not at all. Just stating a fact (well they kept one or two while shipping a ton) But i think he's a good, no-nonsense option whose experience will be handy. Edited 28 January, 2012 by shurlock
Saintjersey Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Happy with this if it turns out to be true.
saint_ben Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 is he the welsh international? if he is, i'd be pleased with that. i dont see him being played at left back at all. would expect him to be cover for jos and fonte.
opthomps Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Centre back with prem and champ experience is ideal to what we need for the run in. We have looked desperately short at the back lately. Hope he pushes for a first team spot, if indeed he comes in to the club.
VectisSaint Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Odd one really, makes sense to get a short term loan until we know whether Seaborne will ever play again, but is clearly more of a left back than a CB (was usually second choice to Danny Higginbotham at Stoke). Is not particularly tall for a CB either, but may make a decent backup for Jos until the end of the season. Clearly not a long term option, can't see why we would be looking to bring him in long term when he is known not to be able to command a regular PL place and age is not on his side (wrong side of 31). But we do desparately need a backup for Jos on the left hand side so if NA thinks he fits that bill so be it. Can't see Raidi playing regularly again and DS won't play again this season I will wager (unless it is just a cameo). Left sided CB should always have been a top priority in this window.
skintsaint Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 will see if this happens - any word of it anywhere apart from ****ter? Didnt want to stay at Ipswich as was too far south according to their forums. Good enough player if he does join though.

Saint Charlie Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 He is definitely more of a centre back that can play at LB. Perhaps later in the season we could field a back four of Danny's just for fun. Danny Butterfield Danny Seaborne Danny Collins Danny Fox Could also then loan out Martin and/or Jaidi to get some matches once Jos is back.
Colinjb Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Ok, I have asked a Stoke supporting mate about him, and here's his considered opinion: "Oh **** mate, we played him at left back and he was woeful. We tried him at centre half a couple of times, his supposed natural position and he had his belly tickled. Ipswich had him on loan for the first part of the season and they were glad to send him back. I'ld say you're too good for him to be honest, he's one of those defenders that never gets anywhere near their player, never mind a challenge (unless he's tw*tted someone from behind or was 5 minutes late) You'd have been much better wanting Higginbotham." So, happy days!

So, happy days! Wouldn't take that as gospel. I asked some Ipswich fans about him and they're all sad he left them, they all rated him and wanted him back. He's probably been poor for them, but he wasn't poor for Ipswich.
smithy Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Everyone thought Jos was **** before he came, i will wait to see if and when he signs.

Saint Garrett Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Adkins seems to get the best out of players, and Celtic/Jos springs to mind. I'm sure if Adkins thinks he's good enough for us, then he will be.
Genk Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Collins having a medical at the moment which is strange for a loan signing apparently. All terms agreed.
S-Clarke Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Where is everyone getting this info from out of interest?
Stepgar Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 What abut Upson? I hear that he wants out and has not even featured on the bench in the last couple of games.
smithy Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Where is everyone getting this info from out of interest? Option to buy?
saints-cris Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Good player, perfect fit for an injured Jos too. Good news if it comes through
chestersaint Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 He's from Chester (Buckley to be precise, just over the border) so he must be good! He was raved about as a youngster and turned nto a steady prem performer. I am happy, he deffo adds depth and adequate cover.

del boy Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Medical all going fine, he's just had a coffee with milk and one sugar (all Cr@p actually, but for a moment I felt ITK)
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 What's the journalist's twitter name please?
Saint_lambden Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 What's the journalist's twitter name please? @reluctantnicko Knows a lot about us trying for Sharp. Seems to think we're stalling whilst Hooper tries to negotiate a new deal at Celtic.

supersonic Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 One man's junk... Is another man's Hooiveld
