do we need to plan for a new keeper?

Yes we need a goalkeeper in the future.

No we do not want Joe Lewis, massively over-rated, flaps and parries too much. Posh fans on Twitter can't stand his consistent selection.

Surely we have already planned for a replacement, his name is Bart. Apart from one nightmare match, he is what is needed and is here as future replacement for KD.

Why would we need to take Lewis if he flaps and parries too much, sounds too much like Kelvin on his off days.

Yes, we do need to be looking at a replacement keeper as I am not sure Bart is up to the job. The Blackpool game was not the first time he has had a nervy performance in the first team and I do wonder whether he has got so used to playing much less pressured reserve games that he can't handle the pressure any more when he appears in the first team. Kelvin will need replacing in a couple of seasons so Adkins needs to be looking at this area of the team. There was a rumour that Saints were looking at a keeper who plays in the Dutch league but haven't heard anymore about that.

If we want to play out from the back we need a keeper that wants to play that way and is comfortable passing the ball quickly. Davis is very uncomfortable and takes forever so the ball usually ends back with him then being lumped first time anywhere up the field. With Davis as long as he is here we might as well let him do what he is comfortable with in the first place and hit it long to Lambert. Not ideal but better an accurate long ball than a hurried punt.

Yes.

For this season we need a capable back up option for KD, and longer term we need to find his successor.

Not convinced that Lewis is the right candidate though, towards the end of last season he had a run of games involving errors on a par with Bialkowski's Blackpool fiasco.

Butland is a good nomination someone posted yesterday, although doubt Brum would be tempted to sell now. I would have said McCarthy at Reading but with their rumoured new owner they may not need to sell.

YES of course. 30 is young for a keeper, and they get better with age. e.g. Shilton, Van der Sar ..Niemi (!). Think KD is playing better now that when he came.

But some Premiership sides have TWO international keepers...I'm afraid that I'm not convinced that Bart is even good enough for CC ....at the moment.

The longer he stays as no.2 - the worse it will be. Played only 30 games in 5 years. He should have a season out on loan to a CCC /L1 side to get experience.

Get in another experienced keeper with Prem. and (preferably) International background.

Next year if we get promoted Davis needs to be replaced before the first game. Premier sides will slaughter him and pick off his well known weaknesses.

I would agree with that. I think he'll struggle in the premiership personally.

Long-shots aplenty etc.

He's been a great servent for us and is one of my favourite players - but if and when we get promoted I think he should take a backseat to someone new, fresh and young - and I can potentially see Davis becoming a coach in and around the club.

I reckon we've been planning for a new keeper for at least the last year. There must be hundreds of keepers on the continent who could play in the Prem - I'd hope our scouts have been watching them closely.

Still confident of promotion this year then? I'm nowhere near as optimistic as I was. Crapshoot of the playoffs I fear.
