Chairman's Dinner

Because potentially is all of our money. Plus if NC has time to waste like this there are plenty of other things his time should be going towards.

It is an evening dinner, out of normal working time. It isn't "our" money, it is the clubs money, we pay our money for games of football, it is up to them how they wish to spend it.

If anyone from here is going then you need to get NC w*nkered & ask the questions we need answers on:

1) what he really thinks of Puncheon

2) who we're planning to buy before next Tuesday (Sharp, a CB etc)

3) how much we actually bid for Hooper

4) whether Lee is here for his football or to improve marketing in Asia

5) Lee's missus, would he?

6) has he ever had a poo at SMS

Probably covered it all unless anyone else has any thoughts?

It's the easy option instead of doing fans forums.

It is.

Its also a very decent service. If it was done as well as fans forums, I think it would be a brilliant thing that the club offer.

That they're doing something is better than nothing. Personally I prefer the fans forums as they are more inclusive.

Agree with this. I think it's a negative thing that a huge number of saints fans now cannot get their questions answered if the club choose to ignore emails.

Not been invited to one yet then ?

Isn't he allowed to eat dinner now then ffs ?

I would think answering fans questions whilst having your evening meal is using that time very wisely actually ;-)

Don't follow that logic, I'm afraid.

Do you tell the landlord at your local how he should spend the money you paid for your beer ?

....or the manager of the local Tesco how you want him to spend what... " used to be your money ?"

For a start , NC doesn't have to do it at all. As it's in the evening (after normal worktime)...and the fans concerned are not paying, where's the problem.

Picking the fans randomly, you get a good idea of feelings in the fanbase, and a much better understanding of what makes the "average fan " tick!

Over a period of time you get to see a good cross-section of the fans who might not otherwise ever see the Chairman, let alone get a chance to talk to him.

From what I know of Fans Forum, they are often dominated by one or two people who drone on criticising everyone and everything in the club.

This way everyone can have a voice and converse in a calmer manner.

I think it's a great idea. Pity that a few more companies don't pick up on the idea, it would improve communication and help smooth out misunderstandings.

Nope. Fans forums weren't dominated by one or two. EVERYONE got to answer a question if they wanted and were able to question the chairman after the event as well.

Don't know how many attended... " Fans Forum's" ? ....several dozen.....fifty.....a hundred?....more ?

Still sounds like a stressful exercise to me. Much nicer to have a quiet evening and spend time chatting over things in a civilised manner.

So by that logic we shouldn't care what the club spends money on? Never got that impression from the forum before.

Don't think you understood what people were saying.

Really, which people? You mean the people who were pro the event, or the people who were anti?

I thought I understood them all, and the man who stood in the middle of the argument, you know the one who was gracious enough to extend the dinner invitations. Hence my comment.

I believe he is hosting a dinner tonight for those who went on the Kenya trip.

I would say that Nic prefers the more personal fans' dinners because he is able to get a good understanding of the issues that fans are concerned about without having to put up with the idiots who want to make a name for themselves in the fans forums. He'll still get a good cross section of views in a smaller party and will be able to address the issues in more detail, as he won't have to spend time fending off idiots.

It's not random David, someone last time round was sure that the club had people watching the crowd during the game in order to select "suitable" candidates. Lol.

That's kind of my point. I'm sure everyone will go along and enjoy a good feed and some free booze.

It reminds me of that bond film where the young girls are taken from all over europe and subjected to mind control so once released they can do the dastardly work of the villain.

I imagine it is difficult to accept his very kind hospitality and then have a moan, so how much does he really learn?

If say there was a fans dinner this week, do you think anyone would ask (or moan) about the illogical decision to make fans drive to Southampton to collect bus tickets for the bubble game or the failure to give a reasonable amount if warning when tickets go on sale for the Brighton game? Both ****ed me off massively, but I'm not sure I could bring these up whilst stuffing my face at his expense.

What a waste of time & money.

is it your time, or money? No - so why worry?

chairman get relaxed evening hearing some feedback, maybe sharing a few ideas.

fans get a treat and chance to hear some thinking behind the club and voice opinion

all get a decent meal

I know it shouldn't but still surprises me how desperate some are in trying to find something to moan about in their hobby/entertainment!?

You could start with why is a fans flag, payed for by fans, not allowed to be seen by fans?

Because the Liebherr family requested not for it to be used unless it was a special occasion, as it reminded them of their loss.

I believe the flag was collected by the organiser, Justmike.

Keep up

It's good that we repeat the same thread each time he has one of these dinners. Maybe we should do it each night and speculate what he's having for dinner at home and whether he makes his wife eat with the kids for bad behaviour?

It is like groundhog day on here sometimes.

Now where is Trousers with the appropriate?

I would imagine its an evening of who can get their tongue furthest up nicolas rusty sherrifs badge.

And I bet he loves it.

Guys, are we going to have this thread every time Nicola hosts a dinner for someone?

Seriously, we appreciate the reminder but we all know you're a bunch of weird, poisonous, inadequates so there's really no need.

I don't know Chez. I expect that's not the case. I don't see why someone couldn't raise a point like that. I would be surprised if you weren't able to do so - the raison d'etre of the evening surely dictates that you should.

The effect the scenario probably does have is that people raise the point in a measured and calm way rather than using the opportunity to have a rant on the radio and make a tit of themselves. It probably also allows for a slightly more candid response than a public forum as it affords the opportunity for a dialogue to occur - which can be tricky when addressing a crowd as people are more likely to interrupt or ask about something completely different.
