Saints to be part of the Sun's 2 match tickets for 19.50 scheme - yeah right :-(

Just had a quick look @ the Millwall website ahead of Saturday's FA Cup tie and I notice they are whole-heartedly endorsing the Sun Newspaper's ticket reducation offer to fans for their Feb home hames to Deby & Boro. Wouldn't it be refreshing for Saints to give something back to the fans as a Thanks for the great support the tram has received home and away. Maybe for the Burnley/Deby homes games in Feb. If, as alleged we're the 4th richest club in the UK - couldn't Nicola just sanction this? If anything to put a little faith back to the fans. However, and at the risk of being pessemistic I very much doubt it :-(

When was the last time kids went for a £1 too?

Under 11's go free in the family stand. Plus the club has done several deals this season, I think the Peterborough game may have been one of them. Can't remember the specifics but it might have been buy a ticket for game x and get ticket for game y for £15. It's not like they are doing nothing.

Why would you want to support/endorse anything The Sun does?

Damn right. News International have shown their true colours.

And I don't think we are on particularly good terms with them after the south coast club saga... I'd like to know how that ended though because the Sun didn't make a big fanfare of it.

The away game at Ipswich earlier this season was part of the deal, although we had a very small allocation of tickets under it. I should know as I was lucky enough to get one of them through a mate.

Blackpool away is on the new list. It's home fans only this time though, and one of the only games in the list which denies away fans cheap tickets.

There are 3 Pompey home games listed, one of which is Ipswich on Valentines Day. What better way for the locals to treat their sisters to a romantic evening out than with 2 tickets for £19.50 at Fratton.

They might even be able to get a gate over 15,000 with cheap tickets.

Au contraire, Cortese had a 3-hour meeting with the Sun's sports editor (as reported on here at the time) where everything was smoothed over.

You always risk upsetting some ST holders if it's done too frequently, most clubs offer some free tickets to youngsters these days usually by way of local kids football.

West Ham have done a lot of deals this season to get fans in, £15 adult tickets for a number of games and for their home game with Forest last Saturday there was a page in the Evening Standard where if you took that in you got £10 off the ticket price. They also give away freebies to local kids, something they plan to escalate in an attempt to fill (if they get) the Olympic stadium.

Empty seats look crap, I've got a ST but I'm happy to see deals for the less attractive fixtures.

because it is a good marketing tool to bring more fans along to games, we had 11,000 empty seats on Monday night, a few iniaitives to fill the empty seats would be nice.

Fulham offered season ticket holders to get additional seats for West Brom at home for £5 each for the game next week, and will have a big crowd thanks to that

Don't we have a special offer on at the moment,if you bought a ticket for Leicester can't you buy roughly the same seat for Cardiff for £15.Think that's what my nephew said anyway when he texted me about the leicester game.

we do, in the chapel stand only, and judging by the crowd on monday i don't think it has been a roaring success. you can effectively get an adult ticket in the chapel for Leicester and Cardiff for a combined £38 plus booking fee. being mid-week games we tend to struggle to attract a crowd so could do better than that, allowing season ticket holders to buy an extra 2 tickets for £5 each would be a good idea i think.

Yeah, and what happened to the bumper crowd we were going to get due to the game being the first of the Final 10?

that Final 10 was a absolute shocker of a "deal" i thought about it.....but then realised it wasn't a good offer at all for 10 games that included at least three midweek games (Leicester, Cardiff, Ipswich) and maybe also Derby if either of us progress in the FA Cup, so 4/10 midweek would put some off for a start. Then the fact that it was £225 + £5 compulsory admin fee, = £230 for the chapel. If I went along and bought my own ticket for each game any way it would also be £230!!!

Always difficult. Are reduced prices a gift to the fans or a slap in the face to season ticket holders?

No doubt it boosts attendances though. I'd say just cheaper prices from the start of the season or don't bother.

No, where saints go wrong is a lack of categorisation for matches, Birmingham have four, A, B, C and D, and price games accordingly depending on attraction of opposition and whether or not the game is midweek or not, it allows them to price less attractive matches competitively and it obvious marketing. Saints faff around with poorly advertised offers that confuse their own customers.

That doesn't seem to help their crowds though. Their home support is shocking.

Sorry to be a pedantic tw*t, but this just isn't true. The club's owner's personal fortune is the 4th biggest. It's not the same thing.

Might even be 5th.

And to be even more pedantic the late club owner's fortune may have now been dissipated amongst several other people who may or may not give a toss about football or owning a club.As I've said before I wouldn't be at all surprised if NC is virtually the sole owner of the club having had it willed to him.
