I wouldnt get too over exited about TD he`s 26 yrs old has 201 senior apps with 53 goals in what is prob Lge1-2 standard football, a ratio of 4:1 is quite pish tbh.

He is here to make SFC money and will most likely get booed by most of the Northam Mongs. Will be a massive anti climax IMHO.

Quality press conference on Saints Player. Lee sounds very defermined to be the first successful Japanese player in England and said he picked Saints because they really wanted him and Adkins genuinely cared about him.

His aim is a goal a game!

Adkins thinks he will be a very good player, clever movement and intelligence, perhaps a younger Connolly? Also said he has linked well with Lambert in training.

Lee has brought lots of Japanese rice with him haha.

Nice one. You're quite a big fan then?

Blimey, whilst I admire his ambition that's a pretty high bar to set.

Not even Ricky is doing that.

If he gets anywhere near that target then he'll quickly turn into a cult hero but I'd be very very happy with a goal every 3 games TBH.

House of the rising sun:

He's come over to Southampton

From the land of the rising sun

His name is Tadanari Lee

And when he scores we'll sing as one.

Mate, cut out the "Northam mongs" will you? Don't tar all with the same brush, I'm confident there are fools in each stand and sweeping generalisations are rash and you diminish the credibility of your arguements.

And that is a pretty offensive term as well. Cheers.

I know Adkins is often very positive but im surprised by some of his comments about how good Lee looks. Crazy positive. Not a problem really but reading that i got excited about a player ive so far been on the fence about - hope hes half as good as Nige thinks he is!

Phew, I am relieved that we can write him off already....no need for me to get worked up and then get disappointed.

BTW, the term "Mong" is highly offensive (unless you are Rickie Gervais of course).

To the tune of Minder, but in the style of David Walliams impersonating Dennis Waterman in his sketch:

His name's Tadandori Lee and he's our new striker

DO DO DO DO DO DO

He won't get kicked out of nightclubs but pull a girl if he likes'er

DO DO DO DO DO

I'VE GOT A GOOD IDEA

JUST YOU KEEP ME NEW

I'LL BE SO GOOD FOR.....THE PROMOTION PUSH!

After watching that press conference I am reminded at how difficult language and culture barriers can be. I am well aware that many many players have moved to countries where they are not speakers of the language but that doesn't make it any easier. Tadanari is going to have a loooonnnngg adjustment period and I hope we can be patient as he learns. Considering that he himself stated that the English game is so different than the Japanese game that he feels like it's a different sport, can you imagine having to re-learn a sport at age 26?

I really hope that he's brought a support system with him in terms of off-the-field life. Friends, family, etc. And translators! I think he's a great pickup and I'm glad to have him on the team so I want him to get comfortable as soon as possible.

It's very likely that he's more of an investment for next year than he is for this year, but I can't wait for him to score that first goal and see his celebration.

well at least we didn't pay a huge fee for him, but don't be too critical..we've had strikers in the past, who cost big fees and didn't perform that well...

Got the song. Simple and easy to remember.

Tad - a - na - ri Lee (Tadanari Lee)

Tad - a - na - ri Lee (He is Japanese)

And on and on...

To this tune

Has there ever been a successful Japanese player in the UK ? Lets hope he is the first! Adkins is certainly raising expectations for him.

His family is Korean. Ji Sung Park has done alright. Also considering you said in the UK, Shunsuke Nakumara was brilliant for Celtic and he's Japanese.

Other than Nakamura not really, but thinking in the wider Europe, Kagawa who plays for Dortmund and Honda who plays in Moscow are 2 of the most sought after players on the continent...

No reason why Tadanari cannot succeed here is his current Japanese team-mates can do so well elsewhere in Europe.
