I have to say, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. When I hit my 30s, I honestly thought "thank f**k my 20s are over". Complete nightmare capable of creating loads of trouble. Chilled out a lot more now, but still remember that no-one is perfect, especially at that age. I am glad the club are giving him a second chance. Everyone has their bad days, it's how you respond to them that matters. The noise coming from Puncheon is all good. If it works out, it's a win-win. "New" player plus a former source of disruption neutralised.

Based on his position and Nigel's OCDs he'll either get 11 if we're not planning on signing another striker, or 37 if we are. 37 would amuse me, as it's the number Rob Lee got when brought back into the fold for Newcastle after Gullit froze him out and was then sacked. Nothing on the OS yet, even though Tadanari Lee is already listed at 19. So Hooper is no.5?

Puncheon is a petulant c u*t no doubt, but Cortese is no better with press releases like that. All that said, my only advice to Jason Puncheon is "be any good" come Saturday and especially Tuesday. We need him.

If he is good enough and get it right on the pitch then this will be best for SFC. hopefully some of the vocal minority will have learnt their lesson from 2004. Well as Adkins said the other day, if he plays for us once he can't play for anyone else this season, so I guess the earliest he's likely to go is in the summer.

Total lack of respect from the lad. Bet he's wearing jeans an' all. Having defended the guy very much against the tide I'm amazed so many of you are now willing to forgive him. I wonder how many of you would welcome him back into the fold if we hadn't be trounce don Monday? Respect to the likes of SuperMikey for sticking to his guns. To be honest I'm sceptical about this and wonder if its just a way getting him in the shop window on Saturday. That said I'll back him at 'wall as I always have and hope the usual suspects will be a little more patient with him should he get a game and make an inevitable mistake or two.

Funny you should bring something like this up as I was watching SSN earlier and they had an employment lawyer or some such to talk about the Carlos Tevez malarkey at City and he said the exact same thing about City's refusal to consider Tevez, although he implied that the player only has to be considered available for selection by the management for 10% of fixtures, not that he necessarily has to be involved in the game for 10% of games. So this is a very likely reason for the reconciliation.

It's hardly an excuse - I'm also pleased to know it's against Football League rules, as squad numbers have to be consecutive (as far as is possible). We've kind of wriggled around it by not having a 5, but that's not quite the same as leaving 41-87 empty and having a number 88.

It is just as good as a new signing, IF... he really is up for it. Sums up my thoughts entirely. I've always maintained I didn't want to see him play for us again because of his attitude. If he is willing to change that, work hard as a team player and accept whatever position NA decides - even if that's a place on the bench or nothing at all - welcome back JP. I don't like you, I didn't want you here, but I'll support you for as long as you support the team.

The moment there was a hint of not being a guaranteed first team regular his crap attitude shone through. He isn't (wasn't?) a team player, he was all about himself.

Probably not the case here. He has spent most of the last 12 months out on loan.

His career would have been destroyed otherwise, and if at all possible a solution should be found in such situations. 2. It increases our options. I'm not convinced that he is one of our best eleven (and he will need to be OK with this) but when looking at the frailty of our options of late then it's great to see him back. 3. As has been mentioned, this may free up some funds for any transfers that may come through in the next few days.
