sotonianproud Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Watching the Palace game as extra-time is about to kick off and notice how the music being played is boosting the atomosphere...Now most clubs I have been to this season have had songs relevant to their team, Brighton was extremely good (Bar the "Put your hands up for Brighton"). It really gets the crowd pumping before the kickoff not to mention the noise levels. Do you think Saints could make more of an effort rather then "We Will Rock You", which killed a slow version of OWTS. Any Idea's?
Crab Lungs Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 "I just can't get enough"... something positive... something to take the simples minds off chanting about Pompey, too. Pump the crowd and it'll pump the players. The attitude of teams like Norwich and their fans is what we should aim for. That said, I'm really not sure our crowd can be engaged in that way... great idea though.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 I say kill the music at least 5 mins before kick off. Theres been many a time when the crowd has been trying to get a few songs going, yet get drowned out because of the pre match music blairing out. Rather than enhancing the atmosphere,i think it kills it.
latter day saint Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 doubt anything will get the blanket & flask brigade animated before the game as not much durring the games does
The Cat Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 It appears that whoever selects our pre match music is somekind of halfwit playing a joke on us. I'm fine with The Saints Are Coming, but to follow that with Children by Robert Miles is laughable. Not content with that we're then subjected to some twaddle from Muse before Queen come in and bring the whole thing to crescendo of stinking crap. A 4 song montage. Why? Just why? supersonic Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 not "I can't get enough" everyone sings that nowadays what about Rocking all over the world or The Saints are Coming...
Rebel Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 The Saints are Coming - the version that played before the JPT final - who was that by? I can never remember? I have to say watching the League Cup semi final the Palarse fans have some great songs -as they did at St Marys on Boxing Day. We could learn a bit from them. Sour Mash Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Shouldn't have any music at all, it's pretty much all s**t! last night was dire, We Will Rock You, can't think of anything ****t*r!
Tom8558 Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 One step beyond by madness. At the very least the earthquake produced should be able to scar the opposition surely?

shurlock Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 We will rock you yesterday was f**king awful. However, the choice of soul music, if a little generic, was better than most of the halftime filler you hear elsewhere.
Golden Balls Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Something to get the crowd going like 'Chase The Sun' by Planet Funk followed by The first few words of Woolston Ferry. The crowd then take over, sing one verse and chorus followed by "Southampton *clap clap clap* Southampton". Have I thought about this too much? I love 'chase the sun' but it's not really a song to get the crowd going, it's quite a laid back/chilled dance tune. Someone mentioned madness -one step beyond which would be a good one, had convo with mate before about madness being good to have on. Didn't we have this thread a few weeks ago anyway!! True but that's the same with most of our chants. I do love that song, it provides such a great atmosphere.

I would like to kill everyone involved with music at football matches. Does this help ? I especially hate what they do at Cardiff (and Wales) matches, which is some bellend yelling "Make some noise" for 10 seconds, thereby drowning out any noise being made already.
