Songs Before Kickoff

Watching the Palace game as extra-time is about to kick off and notice how the music being played is boosting the atomosphere...Now most clubs I have been to this season have had songs relevant to their team, Brighton was extremely good (Bar the "Put your hands up for Brighton"). It really gets the crowd pumping before the kickoff not to mention the noise levels.

Do you think Saints could make more of an effort rather then "We Will Rock You", which killed a slow version of OWTS. Any Idea's?

"I just can't get enough"... something positive... something to take the simples minds off chanting about Pompey, too. Pump the crowd and it'll pump the players. The attitude of teams like Norwich and their fans is what we should aim for.

That said, I'm really not sure our crowd can be engaged in that way... great idea though.

It appears that whoever selects our pre match music is somekind of halfwit playing a joke on us.

I'm fine with The Saints Are Coming, but to follow that with Children by Robert Miles is laughable. Not content with that we're then subjected to some twaddle from Muse before Queen come in and bring the whole thing to crescendo of stinking crap.

A 4 song montage. Why? Just why?

The Saints are Coming - the version that played before the JPT final - who was that by? I can never remember?

I have to say watching the League Cup semi final the Palarse fans have some great songs -as they did at St Marys on Boxing Day. We could learn a bit from them.

Something to get the crowd going like 'Chase The Sun' by Planet Funk followed by The first few words of Woolston Ferry. The crowd then take over, sing one verse and chorus followed by "Southampton *clap clap clap* Southampton".

Have I thought about this too much?

I love 'chase the sun' but it's not really a song to get the crowd going, it's quite a laid back/chilled dance tune.

Someone mentioned madness -one step beyond which would be a good one, had convo with mate before about madness being good to have on.

Didn't we have this thread a few weeks ago anyway!!

It most certainly can get a crowd going.

Change "oi oi oi" to "south-am-ton"

I would like to kill everyone involved with music at football matches. Does this help ?

I especially hate what they do at Cardiff (and Wales) matches, which is some bellend yelling "Make some noise" for 10 seconds, thereby drowning out any noise being made already.

I say kill the music at least 5 mins before kick off.

Theres been many a time when the crowd has been trying to get a few songs going, yet get drowned out because of the pre match music blairing out.

Rather than enhancing the atmosphere,i think it kills it.

What you said, but with more death.
