Tom8558 Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 In an effort to cheer myself up, I was wondering which stand I would call home. Although I prefer the Northam/Kingsland North cos I love to stretch those vocal chords, I have to say that home for me is the Chapel. I watched my first ever match there and saw the best goal I've ever seen (Camara v Norwich '05) there too. While nowadays I would sit in the Kingsland/Northam, I would say the Chapel is my home. Colinjb Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 The Family section is 'home' now. Although I had spells in the Chapel (directly behind the goal, 4 rows up from the front) and the Northan/Kingsland corner. My season ticket has kept me in the family end for the last two years now and I really do like it in there, even if it feels at times like i'm the only one getting animated in there. When at the Dell, it was the West Stand upper tier towards the Archers Road end.
ericb Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Milton road under the roof! I had my best times as a saints fan there and made friends for life. Ah for the days of Oh When The Saints not being just slow, but each word being sung till you were out of breath.
VectisSaint Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Archers. Never ever watched from the West Stand. Started off in the Milton Road, then to the Milton/East corner but finally settled for the Archers. Don't really have a "home" at SMS, sitting in Itchen/Chapel corner for rest of season, but prefer Itchen/Northam corner. Sadly SMS really doesn't have any special atmosphere in any section, indictment of modern identikit stadia.

Sadly SMS really doesn't have any special atmosphere in any section, indictment of modern identikit stadia. Not sure it's helped over-much by modern idetikit fans either? If you'll pardon the pun a trip to SMS hasn't been much to shout about for a good few seasons. What has happened to the Northam this season? I've been to four home games this season (block 37-38) and the 'atmosphere' from the Northam has been pretty much non-existant. Don't want to come over all Bearsy but what is it with people who pay 27 quid to watch a game and then seem to spend most of their time moving to and from their seats, eating and drinking, checking their phones, updating face book, and generally doing anything except actually watching the match, and then cap it all off by leaving anything up to 15 minutes early 'to beat the traffic' (or as in last night in a big hissy fit because we aren't winning every game we play, preferably by x goals to nil). I don't think you have to look too much further to see why there's not much atmosphere at SMS nowadays. Also a reason why a lot of fans enjoy an away game 'more'. I'm down for the Cardiff game and part me is really looking fd to it; the other part is dreading a repeat of last night - on and off the pitch! Bonus ball from last night is that we might now sell our West Ham tkts slightly less quickly and means my 5 will go through to general sale! SuperMikey Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Kingsland North, 37 & 38. No noise coming from the Northam nowadays, all the chants are started in the Kingsland.
Badger Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 I've been a bit nomadic at SMS, sitting in all but the Chapel stands. Kingsland north/Northam corner has become home of late. East Stand at The Dell.

The9 Posted 25 January, 2012 Share Posted 25 January, 2012 I was all over the Dell, but 99% of my Saints league games at St Mary's have been seen from the Northam. I tend to go walkabout for early round cup matches and stuff like u-21 internationals, but I've only seen 3 Saints league matches at St Mary's outside the Northam. Son of Bob Posted 26 January, 2012 Share Posted 26 January, 2012 My 'home' will always be the Itchen North (block 2) as that was where my season ticket was for 4 years. Still, to this day, the best part of the ground for atmosphere. The day they chose to close that corner was a very sad one. Now days it's the Chapel if I go with the old man or as far north up the Itchen as I can get with my mates.
CitySaint Posted 26 January, 2012 Share Posted 26 January, 2012 Started in the Upper Milton Road, moved to Archers when all seatered Dell, now in the Northam. I think Milton Road would be home, but Northam is close.

The Cat Posted 26 January, 2012 Share Posted 26 January, 2012 Front row of the Archers was my domain for quite a few years. My first ST was in block 42 and when I went in there for a game last season it felt like coming home, albeit to one that had been taken over and had the furniture rearranged by a bunch of smelly cretins. Other than that I'd say the away end at whichever ground Saints are at.

70's Mike Posted 26 January, 2012 Share Posted 26 January, 2012 Under the West (mind you in one game I managed all four). Now its the Itchen Block 4 Could that have benn Man Utd? Started at 6 in Archers with parents, then Milton, then Under West, then Under East, back to Archers then moved to Milton(health reasons, could not stand whole game in Archers) finally to Chapel with a few other oldies in Block 20 who followed the same route
krissyboy31 Posted 26 January, 2012 Share Posted 26 January, 2012 West Stand until they moved the terrace ST's to the upper tier of the Milton. Back under the West Stand when it went properly all seater (seat in the shed). Stayed west when we moved to SMS and as much as possible get tickets for Kingsland bocks 34/35. Ah for the days of Oh When The Saints not being just slow, but each word being sung till you were out of breath. This. Remember it fondly between 89 and 91. Never forget 4 - 1 scousers in 89/90. A time when Saints meant everything to me. Obviously still a big fan but other things in my life now.
Brizzie Saints Posted 27 January, 2012 Share Posted 27 January, 2012 (edited) Archers middle section then moved to under East stand by tap Spent many years with ST's in just about every lower section of the Dell. Longest spell was a Season ticket in the lower east corner for about 3 years before moving to the back row centre of the bike shed, fantastic days, also had a ST Kingsland Blk 34 for the first year at SMS before moving OS, still miss it havent been back since, one day maybe.
