Saint Charlie Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 For me the reason our form has downturned is that at the start of the season we lined up with four genuine goal threats (a combo of Rickie, Lallana, Guly, Connolly and Chaplow). More recently due to injury we have only played with three. Subsequently the attacking movement of our wide players has been negated because we have a genuine attacker only on one side (Lallana usually). I think once Chaplow returns, or indeed GUly can go back to right side of midfield and Tadanari Lee or anyone else can partner Rickie, we will hopefully see a return to the attacking fluidity of before. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Further point, with Lee on board it could be argued that we are actually more in need of a genuine wide player than a striker.... BrokenGusBus Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 I have to agree with you that I don't think It was a coincidence that our form drop occurred after Chaplow was injured either, unfortunately Lee is a bit of a unknown quantity so it may be a gamble just to sign him. I think generally though the fact the mounting injuries has caused this drop in form and eventually came to boiling point last night with the spine of our team all out through injury and on the whole the replacements weren't up to scratch. Hopefully at Cardiff we can see at least two of our key players back and no doubt it will improve our performance.
