alpine_saint Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 I think we are struggling to complete the Lee deal, let alone bringing in additional players..
Deanovski Posted 23 January, 2012 Author Share Posted 23 January, 2012 It's already on the Hiroshima site as a done deal, doubt we are struggling?
Nexstar Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 I think we are struggling to complete the Lee deal, let alone bringing in additional players.. I don't think somebody moving work from Japan to England can be done at the drop of the hat. The manager says he'll be here this week, no issue. S-Clarke Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 When you have to play Fox at CB it shows you need additional cover for sure.
david in sweden Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 With lee coming in (hopefully) and with Jos getting injured does this mean we should put our focus on a new cb? When we started pre-season, Aaron Martin was fourth choice CB.. ...NOW he's the only one who's fit ! .... answer YES ! (thank goodness we signed Jos when we did.....) Saintsfanuk Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 Would have thought it's critical, was before Jos got injured. Seabourne we don't even know if he'll play again this season. Jaidi should have retired last season, I don't think he's up to this level at all, especially with his latest lot of injuries. Love to be proven wrong though because I like him. Either way both Seabourne and Jaidi need replacing if we go up, so do it now if possible to find some quality. Gotta be some Prem CB sitting in the reserves somewhere we could loan for a bit? James Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 We need a ball playing CB - Martin puts us under too much pressure due to his lack of composure and skill on the ball. We need two - one to play now and another as cover as I don't think Martin is ready to step up full time if we get a long term injury.

St Chalet Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 Personally I think we should loan an experienced Centre Back for a month as cover. We will liekly have Fonte and Jaidi in contention soon and from watching Sky tonight Jos' injury was a tweak not a pull. Martin was CB#5 in the pecking order behind Fonte, Hooiveld, Jaidi (Who was injured tbf) and Seaborne and not appears to be the only fit one. St Chalet Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 Expereinced CB's are easier to get on loan than strikers. I offer Luketti and Perry as evidence.

Tokyo-Saint Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 Was on the bench for the game v Huddersfield so not that indespensable I could be wrong but wasn't he coming back from suspension? I know their fans rate him very highly as a ball playing defender. Might be needed as cover at least depending on Jos's injury and predicted recovery time. VectisSaint Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Was always a priority in my view, youd need to be a bit daft not to realise this before tonite, Jos' injury just clearly demonstrated why.
Lighthouse Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 I think a 1 month loan would surfice here. Jos - looks like a small tweek, I'd hope he will be back in a couple of weeks at the most Fonte - Surely isn't far off Martin - Is fine. Cork - Will do in an emergency
Wiggles31 Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 For a top 2 team we have not been good enough defensively this season and this is probably our biggest weakness imo. I still think we neeed a new spark up front as well.
saint cozza Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Re: Harlee Dean isn't he on a Youth Loan, so technically different to a normal one so not sure if he can be recalled similar to Jack Saville at Barnet. But do think we need one as Jaidi is retiring
SteveStone Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Was always a priority in my view, youd need to be a bit daft not to realise this before tonite, Jos' injury just clearly demonstrated why. Couldn't agree more; seems Adkins has been more focussed on strikers and midfielders, and we certainly need another top striker, but not getting in a real solid ball playing CB to partner either Jos/Fonte seems madness. As Ferguson once said the spine of a team is vital and it is. Our spine in defence is brittle! On yesterday's performance it's clear to me that Martin is already above his station. Jaidi is well past his best. Seabourne's out. Jos is the only one who's impressed me this season and now he's out we've left ourselves exposed by not focussing on getting a decent CB in. Very naive of Adkins if this is the case. Just hope he sorts it now and it doesn't ultimatley cost us promotion. Although everyone else will know how deperate for a CB we are now... SuperMikey Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 QPR may well have some spare too, they're clearly going to buy lots of players. Fitz Hall or Matthew Connolly please.
Webby Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 If we're not looking for cb then I wanna know why. Martin was shocking last night. Then again we were shocking in every department last night. This blip in form is now a slump, make no bones about it.
Mowgli Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Yes, now a priority to get ONE, maybe 2, CB's in urgently. Its no blood wonder football is in financial trouble when we think like this. We have 5 good centre backs at the club not counting the youth. Four are injured. Cork and Fox can both play at centre back. Part of the game is trying to survive through injuries with what you have got. Sometimes it is harder than other times (like now!) Having said that, with Jaidi retiring at the end of the season, I think NA is targetting a quality repcement anyway. But two? No way
norwaysaint Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Last night we were easily over-run in defence and midfield, which is a bit worrying with us playing what we thought were three midfielders who were good enough. I haven't seen anyone calling for new midfielders. In defence we were utterly hopeless. Nobody defended well except Jos and the distribution from defence was probably why we never got back into the game, we just kept punting it back to no-one in particular. Dig Dig Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 The worst thing about last night was seeing Jos limp off. If he's out for any considerable time, a CB is a priority over a striker IMO.
badgerx16 Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 As with many posts above, it is a little harsh to judge solely on last night, especially as a major part of the problem was the lack of bite in midfield. The CBs were exposed as Leicester overran us, won every 50/50, and attacked with pace and numbers. I think the loss of Marsden has probably been the hardest hit to the team. If Jos's pull isn't too bad, a 1 month loan of an experienced player might suffice.
Greenridge Posted 24 January, 2012 Share Posted 24 January, 2012 Jason Pearce from Pompey they should sell cant say they dont need the cash. Ipswich have put in two bids for him (and Ward). Looks very likely they'll be making player sales shortly considering the Winding Up order from the HMRC
