You would think they would have guessed what was going to happen before it did. I called it before January so they must have known.

You call so many things, as your 13,660 posts suggest, bit of a shotgun approach, you're bound to get one right at some time, not saying that this is the time though!

We have just brought in a loan and Lee so it is not as if nothing is happening. As for others, if you cant get the players you want why bring people in for the sake it it? I am frustrated as the rest of you but lets get it right eh otherwise we will end up with a bloated squad of average players.

I was going to wait until I read all responses, but this one will do. We have some serious wrist slitters following Saints these days. Many on this thread seem to have forgot our position a few short years ago, and think we can keep chucking millions at new players, we can't compete with West Hams out there, as they have the benefit of parachute money, and it seems, owners willing to gamble the very future of the club, in a spend spend spend attitude, in their quest for the PL. We are a promoted League 1 team, and we have been sitting pretty for most of this season, I suspect most would of been pleased with a top eight position at this juncture, were it not for that fact of how well we have done.

Supporters in my day, supported the club and players, good or bad, but it seems we have a generation of 'fans' who only support a winning team, and choose to condemn players/manager/chairman when so ever we lose. SOG is right, we've had the era of a squad bloated with average players, yet here we are with posters calling for back up here, and back up there, ffs, it's not back up we need, and quality costs lady's.

So stop moaning and do what you purport to do, and that is support!

I wouldn't be surprised if we had all our transfers lined up ready, but when celtic leaked the fact we had bid a serious amount for Hooper everyone else went hold on,the price has now changed for "player x" you can now have him at this inflated price.

NA doesn't seem to me like he is that blinkered that he would not know we need to strengthen, for me Connolly is past it and Guly is awful, yes he has scored a few goals but his overall play is shocking,if we do go up I would imagine they will be the first 2 out the door

I think your view is optimistic to say the least. The club are prevaricating.

We should have made signings in the summer and we should of made signings in this window sooner.

We cannot sustain the momentum without changes and it still amazes me why we leave it until the last day or so of the transfer window to buy players, get in early and spend the money FFS.

What we had last night was mostly 'B' team players and when you looked at Leicesters team compared with ours you just knew we were going to get stuffed.

How the **** are we going to challenge for promotion with that bunch,by the time lambert, lallana, chaplow and fonte get back the damage could done by the backup players could be too severe for us to regain the momentum for the final push.

Well said. Exactly that and we have ridden our long long beyond what we really deserved if I'm honest. In a way, it serves the club right for being complacent. Oxo left, we have supposedly had money available but not used it when it mattered most. We are either lying about funds, or stupid...or both! (or just don't know how to effectively compete in the transfer market!)

To be fair, we have got a squad of mainly average players with Lambert, Cork, Fonte and Lallana being the core spine (Chaplow a great loss too). We seemed to have a decent ethos before. Buy the best players in the division, plan ahead for the next phase. We are not doing that at present as we are signing average players at best. I would say 80% of our squad are not capable for PL football and it would have been embarrassing and Sunderland or West Brom esque results had we managed promotion. We still could but I think it will be via the play offs but we may struggle for that if we don't strengthen. We had been lucky with injuries over recent seasons but we should not have ridden our luck.
