Very disappointing tonight, but any side in this division missing their best three players will struggle. The fact is we still need a decent right winger and we need another striker who can score goals and put himself about a bit (a la Rickie). That has been obvious since the first day of the season and it still is over halfway through.

Very very poor. I think Adkins was wrong to start with Yago. The midfield was non-existent. Martin had his worst game ever. Guly & Connolly were shocking. Always backed Holmes, but thought he was woeful when he came on.

We need strengthening NOW!!!! Or injuries will cost us our best chance of getting promoted.

Just glad I have not got to drive home 190 miles now.................................

We tried to play the way we always play at home...... the way we always play doesn't work without at least one of Lallana/Chaplow and of course Lambert.

Davis was solid, Hooiveld was class. Everyone else was very very very poor. I know Harding played a lot of the game out of position but he was especially dreadful.

Can't believe what I'm watching tonight,I never expect to win every game and fully understand that we will lose, what I hate is losing and playing like this.

The team that will finish the match is just not up to it, we have a load of Injuries and looking at the bench it just shouts buy a striker buy a centre back, the formation seems to be all over the show.

Adkins is always talking about it being a team game, but the "team" as it stands is injured, tired and just not good enough, lee Holmes proved this tonight.

I'm not a glass half empty man I'm just disappointed, although happy with the position we are in, all we need is now a win against Cardiff, brum, burnley and west ham and all will be fine!

10 days left of the window we must do some business if we are to keep on pushing, especially is Jos is out for a period of time.

I will keep the faith and cheer every weekend all I want to see a performance, win lose or draw.

Reasons to be cheerful:

We will have Lambert back next month

Fonte and Chappers to come back in soonish

Leicester will take points off our challengers

We are 2nd

We can make the gap 4 points again by beating Cardiff

We have Lee to come in

Jos' injury is a blow, hope it is tweak not a pull.

A few things:

1. Half a team missing, including our most influential players. Any team in the league would struggle in that scenario. We need to make sure we nurse players back to full fitness and not push them too soon.

2. That said, the players out there should have performed better. Although Leicester never gave us a chance to get going the energy levels were not good enough, players were dwelling and panicking on the ball, and looked a bit scared to me. The crowd compounded matters - the booing was pathetic and the players needed backing. The crowd passed their apprehension onto the players and it did not help.

3. With some players given a chance tonight and not making an impression, there may be a reaction in the transfer market. I always knew we'd have a sticky spell and it would be hard to bounce out of it. We've got to be positive during this period.

4. We're still second (unbelievably) and the Cardiff game is massive. I hope lots of players are back for that - and maybe a couple of new faces.

Completely expected to lose tonight. The sooner we get Lallana, Lambert, Chaplow and Fonte back the better. Plus Richardson back from full fitness and hopefully Jos wont be out for long either, these injuries are really hurting us.

And get some new signings in !

Crap tonight.

Good - we are still 2nd.

Bad - the result, the lack of cover in the squad, Jos's injury, no leadership on the pitch.

Hopefuly good - there is still a week of the window open, there are plenty of games left.

Opportunity - Nige to show he's got what it takes.

Complete shambles. No passion, drive or commitment. Couldn't control the ball, pass it accurately over five yards, there was no movement, no pressing on their midfield who, given the freedom of the park, strolled around and did what they liked. We were second to every ball and bottled the fifty-fiftys. Not one player comes out of that with any credit. What's happened to our fitness? We were totally one paced - snail pace and appeared unable to up the tempo at any stage. Yes, we had key players missing but that does not excuse such a shoddy and lacklustre performance. Pathetic for a side that should now be capitalising on a brilliant first half of the season.

Thing is we created enough half-chances to have got atleast 2. Falque seemed to add nothing, but I won't write him off just yet.

So for Saturday we will hopefully have: Lambert, Lallana, Fonte, Hooiveld and Lee.

Any danger of seeing Chaplow before Feb..?

The bubble may well have burst but I for one enjoyed every minute of it (except for Walsall away for some reason that sticks in my craw).

Now for us old-timers we know exactly where we stand. For the rest of you get used to it - we are Southampton we can beat anyone and we can also lose to anyone - and that truly means anyone.

From 1969, Saints 0, Leeds United 3 - until I die, I'm stuck with it.

And that was 'not' a bad Saints performance - I've seen some real 'shockers'...
