Dr Who? Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Was just wondering what you peoples favourite clothing, trainer brands are. I work for a fashion company Bestseller Wholesale, and have done for 4 years and I get all my clothes for free, but I do love the brand as well. even though their brands are not that we'll know in the south of the uk, up north they are very well known. As a company the turnover has increased year on year. 2007/08 - 15 million 2008/09 - 20 million 2009/10 - 30 million 2010/11 - 45 million On course for 60 million 2011/12 and 100 million by 2014. Huge all over europe, and the uk is now catching up. The main brand for blokes is Jack and Jones, which I dress head to foot in, as they clothes is free. You should check out its website. Other brands are Vero moda Selected Homme and femme Only Vila Name it Prices Mamalicious http://www.bestseller.com then click on the brands. For trainers, it has to be Adidas old style like gazelle. What do you guys wear. I was never into brands for clothes until I worked fo his company, but you can understand why. I used to buy Tesco stuff.
GenevaSaint Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 I buy all sorts really, current brand of choice would be lyle and Scott. I discovered vero moda in lanzarote, very stylish clothes and reasonably priced.
GenevaSaint Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Although I was looking at the male sub brands in there!
pap Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Don't really go for branding at all. Don't see the point in paying extra to be a walking advert for something. Last time I actually cared, I was around 11, ADIDAS were the ****, but only if they were stuffed with thick flourescent laces.
Seaford Saint Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 I have been wearing adidas samba trainers since 1974. I see no reason to change. Pringle, Lyle and Scott......and Clark's shoes

These company's should pay us to advertise their goods, why pay extra for a 'tick' etc.

lil 1 Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 belstaf-jackets lacoste,y-3-t shirts levi-jeans adidas,clarks-trainers,shoes
revolution saint Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 No Logo by Naomi Klein should be essential reading. Brands are a waste of money and no guarantee of quality.
bridge too far Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 No Logo by Naomi Klein should be essential reading. Brands are a waste of money and no guarantee of quality. Yep but they're an efficient way of dragging along people who feel the need to wear a uniform in order to have an identity. A fool and his money ........
bridge too far Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 I hope you don't own a Saints shirt! With respect, that's a slightly different take I do have an old 'ladies' Saints shirt but I don't wear it out (it wouldn't mean much to people up here anyway) and I rarely go to matches. But the shirt was bought to show support for my team, not to give me an identity. That's the difference.
View From The Top Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Adidas Orignals trainers. Only real brand loyalty I have in terms of clothing/shoes.
pap Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Always seems odd to me that those so very anti-Apple spend more time thinking about Apple and discussing it than those who use the products. It's a bit like people who oppose homosexuality in that sense. Some spot-on analysis there which made me chuckle, adriansfc.
sperm_john Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 used to like elese growing up, wonder what happened to them ... fila has a retro cool now too
dubai_phil Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Reebok Trainers (better fit) Timberland Boots Nautica Chinos* Arrow Work & "posh" leisure shirts* Polo's American Eagle Lee or Wrangler Jeans* Debenhams 100% Cotton Socks Shorts / Cargo Pants (when travelling) Molecule in Thailand - awesome quality & price Then anything else in a sale or that leaps out. The * brands simply because they are the best cut/fit for me, Levis, just never fit right for some reason Down here everything for work has to be totally 100% Cotton as when it hits 50C in the summer any amount of "plastic" means you are just soaked. Golf Shirts I very occassionally buy Nike Dri-Fit, but otherwise whatever I get given, (had $400 worth of shirts in 2 weeks over Xmas for the Voluntary stuff I do. These days tends to be Greg Norman or Cutter & Buck. Shorts - Adidas Dri Fit. Socks - Green Cotton in Thailand - I buy about 10 pairs each trip to stay stocked up Most of my general clothes shopping is Export Shop or XL for Men in Bangkok. They are like an outlet store and sell surplus stuff from Thai factories - branded Tee Shirts at about 2 quid each, so I go for quantity - we can get through 2 or 3 a day in the summer here! Tends to be random one trip they have nothing 6 months later I buy about 10 Tee Shirts
richie Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 G star (in the early 2000's) but before every chav started to wear it!!!! Though the jeans are still the best around.
aintforever Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 I havn't given a sh!te about brands since I was at school, if I like something i buy it, couldn't give a toss who made it. people who buy just because of the brand are mugs.
Chez Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Paul Smith stuff suits me, but usually I avoid anything that has an oversized label or logo advertising its designer/manufacturer.
Dr Who? Posted 22 January, 2012 Author Posted 22 January, 2012 the only brand i've heard of from that list is Jack & Jones.always thought it was aimed at teenagers/chavs ? i stick to Lacoste,Lyle & Scott,Fred Perry,Henri Lloyd & Adidas mostly. purchased 4 pairs of Adidas in last month picked up some real bargains in the Lyle & Scott sale this month as well. Jack & Jones have different sub brands, with core and originals, which is very chavie. They also hav vintage and premium for the maturer man lol
Sheaf Saint Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 I don't do brands. It's my belief that people who feel the need to spend more than is necessary on clothes with particular labels, because they think it makes them look cool, are fooling themselves more than anything. I buy whatever I feel comfortable wearing and, usually, whatever happens to be on special offer. Can't remember the last time I paid full retail price for an item of clothing. I also recommend people should watch John Pilger's documentary The New Rulers of the World - it might make you think twice about buying certain brands in future.
angelman Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Currently wearing Wrangler jeans as they are more comfy that any others....and they were £35 a pair off Amazon. Can't bring myself to pay £70+ for a pair of jeans. Prefer my shirts to come from Hilditch & Key but then I guess that isn't really what is being discussed here as they are proper shirts rather than some over priced tat (although H&K are overpriced so best to buy in the sales).
buctootim Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 Before people became so brand conscious there was direct correlation between price and quality - 'you get what you pay for'. That isnt really anymore imo - in that you can easily pay a lot of money for tat. Mostly ignore the label and go for what I like and seems well made. From experience though Daniel Hechter and Baumler are decent work suits, I like Mantaray jumpers and shirts and anything in John Lewis is usually decent quality
LGTL Posted 22 January, 2012 Posted 22 January, 2012 I'm a bit of a Ralph Lauren whore. Will also only wear Adidas originals.
doddisalegend Posted 23 January, 2012 Posted 23 January, 2012 Not really bothered. I've got way to many things to spend money on to be able to drop a lot of money on clothes just becuase of the label, generally buy whats on sale ....or failing that Matalan or Asda. Having said that I do like to wear DM boots......always have
SNSUN Posted 23 January, 2012 Posted 23 January, 2012 Tesco Crap for me, interspersed with a bit of sports direct and Next.
