Dr Who? Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 He is a bit of a different kind of summariser. I know he has been around for years, but do not normally listen to 5 live. He likes his shakespear and makes all his games sound like a play. If you think about it, it is like live theatre is the football, so I think it is a great way to sum up the drama! What do you think? Love, don't really care or hate the way he sums up the football? He is different and a chirpy chappy that's for sure.

Petersfield Saint Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 Unique and one of football's great commentators. Great raport with Waring for many years for us weaned on IAK. Agreed; loved his constant guffawing on IAK!
bridge too far Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 I love his commentary too. Wonderful use of our wonderful language. He's pretty old now, isn't he?
Micky Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 I absoultely hate his commentary - I want to know about the match, not about how this goal or move has parallels with something that this poet, writer or philosospher has said at some point in history, hate it. I actually met and interviewed Stuart many moons ago when he was working in BBC Manchester doing the evening news, and he was every bit as 'blingy' as he was with EW on IAK - full of gold chains and gold rings. Nice guy, don't get me wrong, but I really cannot abide his commetary style.
positivepete Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 Over 80, a former player in the days when in his words "the money was not enough to keep him in beer and women". Always look forward to his spot on 5 live.
Viking Warrior Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 I like his quips and his deadpan humour. If it wasn't for him I don't think IAK would have been so succesful

scotty Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 Always liked him, he was a great laugh on IAK and I cant think of anyone else who could have done that particular job (especially the royal one which was priceless). His footy summaries/commentaries are good fun, I always listen out for him on 5 live.
