I get the feeling there was still a future for Punch with us. I reckon NA made him train with the reserves with the idea that if he kept his head down/worked hard/didn't squinny for a move while the window was open, the slate would slowly get wiped clean. That plan would obviously all be out the window now though

There doesn't seem to be any structure to West Hams activity what so ever.

I'm not fan of Alladyce or West Ham, but their transfer policy has helped them to top of the league. Premiership money and squad or not, they still had to sign the right players. They have a transfer structure. It's to by the best possible talent available to them. Focus on what we do.

Unprofessional individual. These players with lonely brain cells are like pigs in s**t with twitter aren't they? He can rot for sure but frustrating paying him a fortune in the process. I would be amazed if there was any future for him. But I fear a combination of us not wanting to loan him out/wanting decent money for him/him wanting wages above the odds might lead to him not moving on in Jan.. I hope I'm wrong.

Unfortunately he already blew his privileges to speak to authority on his terms a long time ago with his prior actions, however I doubt he can see that....disappointing he's learning these lessons as a twenty something and wasting his career away than when he was younger and the consequences were lesser.

Sounds to me like a lot of us fans will now enjoy watching him rot in the reserves after seeing that "attitude" resurfacing again.

Cortese is not an all forgiving man. To have standards, you must have boundaries....in a way....almost having Puncheon still at Saints more than earns his money for the club because it demonstrates the need for players to realise they don't hold all the cards in the modern day game.....I find it quite refreshing....

Me

@jasonpunch Nobody's going to want to sign you with an attitude like that, be a man about this situation you stupid *****.

Him

Funny when people talk about something they no nothing about..bunch of clowns..just laugh to myself

Me

@jasonpunch The bunch of clowns that pay the wages that you don't deserve you mean? It's called being a professional, hope you get fined.

Slagging off the fans that effectively pay your wages is just not on, hope he rots in League 2 for the rest of his career.

This. And I really dont hate many people, but I really hate that pr*ck

I don't hate him, but he is such a childish idiot. Behaviour like that should never be rewarded, regardless of ability. Too many children with ability in football who are treated as something special due to their talent, all it does is breed arrogance and a lack of perspective. People like Puncheon are symbolic of many things wrong with this countries attitude to football. Ill disciplined, precious and utterly self absorbed. Let the child rot.

Thing is, none of us actually know what happened between Cortese and Puncheon so although I don't think it's ever wise to publicly criticise your boss in such a way, I'm not gonna start bringing myself down to his level by blindly criticising him too.

However, if I were in his shoes, even if I couldn't explain what happened, I would certainly not be inciting the fans who currently pay my wages, by criticising Cortese in this way. Such a lack of professionalism is perhaps sign as to why he is in the position he is in, who knows, but he is achieving nothing at all by doing it.

No-one comes out of this with credit, sadly, neither the player nor the club. He is probably frustrated that offers are coming in but being turned down. Maybe he concludes are more interested in keeping him to demean him than they are about taking some money and letting him continue his career.

Yes, his tweets are ill-advised and won't sweeten the relationship. But equally the Club needs to explain to him what the plan is and what the offer level needs to be to trigger his release.

A sour relationship here does neither party any favours.

Don't you understand? Cortese is rejecting offers because he wants to keep Puncheon and let him rot. You never, ever, mess with Cortese.

He can't be that bright or else he'd realize that all clubs have a chairman and 99% of them have a big ego. Take a shot at one of them and all the others see the warning signs.

I can't help but think that they are the tweets of someone who has been drinking.

I'd actually prefer we stick him in the reserves for the next 18 months. If he refuses to train or play, dock his wages. Shame that someone with a fair bit of talent has to be so unprofessional.

But then we need to ask whether we need someone like that anywhere near our developing kids.
