Lighthouse Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Saints not in action until Monday, but there are some very important games going on which will affect us. West Ham look likely to know us off the top for the first time in months, assuming they get anything from their home game with Forest. Here's the fixtures and what we're after Barnsley vs Millwall - Away win Brum vs Watford - Away win Blackpool vs Palace - Draw or away win Bristol vs Doncaster - Irrelevant Burnley vs Derby - Draw Cardiff vs Pompey - As painful as it is to say it, away win Coventry vs Boro - Home win Leeds vs Ipswich - Away win Posh vs Brompey - Home win Reading vs Hull - Draw Wham vs Forest - Away win I can quite easily see Pompey and Cloterill just collapsing somehow. Any chance of sticky?
Saint Without a Halo Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Do we really care about Barnsley v Millwall?
SNSUN Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Come on Forest, Portsmouth and Coventry! Erm, we haven't got a hope. The three teams below us will all win. I also think Birmingham will beat Watford although Watford could scrape a draw in that game.

ericofarabia Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Excuse me but screw the DCSB's - hope Cardiff stuff them - we are in control of our own destiny - and if/when The DCSB's fold the reults get expunged and Baardiff lose the 3 points anyway!!
SNSUN Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Coventry could draw with Boro although with the form they're in this seems unlikely. Very unlikely, which is why I believe the top 4 will all win this weekend. (We can stuff Cardiff at the end of the month anyway...)
Saint_clark Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Remember when Bristol City beat us at home out of the blue? Come on Forest!
simondo Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 don't forget God love the saints!!! still top tonite for sure!!! okay time for my medicine :-)
Lighthouse Posted 21 January, 2012 Author Posted 21 January, 2012 Do we really care about Barnsley v Millwall? No, but Barnsley are 10 points closer to us, so I went with that. I think the best we can hope for there is a shed load of injuries and suspensions for Millwall ahead of next weeks cup tie. It is looking like a pretty bad weekend for us based purely on the fixtures, but there is normally at least one cock up amongst the top teams. Who would have given Bristol City a prayer at St Mary's (apart from Saints fans).
Saint Garrett Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Doesn't matter as long as we beat Leicester.
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 come on forest...! We've lost in games that were nailed wins already this season, and this league is very very unpredictable so never result is ''guaranteed'' - forest have a chance.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 LJ to score for Borough against Cov!
beavis17 Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 LJ to score for Borough against Cov! A gentlemen's agreement between the two means he isn't playing today.
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 LJ to score for Borough against Cov! I don't think he's allowed to play in this game. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that Cov wrote it into the transfer deal as they would play eachother soon after.
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 A gentlemen's agreement between the two means he isn't playing today. beat me to it!
saints-cris Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Screw Pompey, if them winning helps us get promoted I'll root for them.
the saint in winchester Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 come on forest...! We've lost in games that were nailed wins already this season, and this league is very very unpredictable so never result is ''guaranteed'' - forest have a chance. No, Forest DON'T have a chance. They are abysmal. Their recent results show they couldn't beat anyone right now. I'd settle for Saints matching (or beating) Wham's score today. I'd settle for maintaining a lead on goal difference by Monday 10pm.
beavis17 Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 I'm not sure about the injury or suspension situations but there is no Boyd for Peterborough, no Kebe for Reading, no Clyne or Zaha for Palace and Maynard is on the bench for Bristol City's home game against Donny today...
Window Cleaner Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 I'm not sure about the injury or suspension situations but there is no Boyd for Peterborough, no Kebe for Reading, no Clyne or Zaha for Palace and Maynard is on the bench for Bristol City's home game against Donny today... We must be buying all of those then.
Saint Charlie Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Palace resting players ahead of Cup semi 2nd leg.
saintmatt Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 League One update: Ryan Dickson scores for Yeovil
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 ''Forest should have taken the lead at WHU'' - Knew it wouldn't be as cut and dried as some suggested.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Westham now top in the live table with the one point
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Blackpool 0 - 1 Palace Reserves. Impressive...
ohwhenthesaints Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Sounds like Forest are dominating West Ham a bit. They've definitely had the best chances.
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Brum 1 - 0 Watford (Goal rush at the mo ffs!) and Brum are rising quickly.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Brum 1 - 0 Watford (Goal rush at the mo ffs!) and Brum are rising quickly. Yup, the team to watch.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 All together now: Play Up P....... Oh.
saints_is_the_south Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 If results stay like this til FT then that would be excellent.
Lighthouse Posted 21 January, 2012 Author Posted 21 January, 2012 Significant half time scores Wham 0-0 Forest Cardiff 1-1 Skates Brum 1-0 Watford Coventry 1-0 Boro Reading 0-0 Hull That's a great half IMO. Our 6 closest rivals for promotion and only Brum are winning at the moment. I'd taken those scores at FT any day of the week.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 If results stay like this til FT then that would be excellent. Hope so, but it is only half time so far!
Lighthouse Posted 21 January, 2012 Author Posted 21 January, 2012 Sh*t Wham just scored in what must be the 15th minute of injury time.
Colinjb Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 Wham are winning. A Pen after about 28 minutes of injury time at the end of the first half. Well, that works for my accumulator today
Mr Dad Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 I'm enjoying this thread! Can't believe I just cheered the pompey goal on Solent.
S-Clarke Posted 21 January, 2012 Posted 21 January, 2012 WHU lead with a very dubious penalty, after being outplayed for most of the half.
