I think Dubai experienced about 56 minutes of rain yesterday!! Ist rain in about 9 months I think!!

Started about 11pm but at around 4-5 am decent sized Thunderstorm and rain loud enough to have woken me up.

Weather down here has been "odd" the summer was far hotter & humid than previous years, and it took until this past week to get down to the low 20's which is unusual, normally can get down to 15-19 by mid December..

Oh we did have one day of rain back in October - so again, actually far less than normal.

In Orkney we have had 56 succesive days of rain and no end insight . Anybody else experience so much sustained rain?

no snow yet ? always seemed to rain in the Shetlands from Sept to Dec, then the snow would appear for a while to be replaced by more rain.

used to hate the horizontal rain that was blown right into your face or if it wasn't raining the sea spray that got blown into your face even though you were inland as it was so f*cking windy ! :(

Weather is crazy in Sussex too. Was around 14 degrees for most of December and still 12 degrees now in January, supposed the coldest month. Very little rain.

The Seattle area has issued a travel warning due to the cold weather.

They suggest that anyone travelling in the current icy conditions should make sure they have the following:

Shovel

Blankets or sleeping bag

Extra clothing including hat and gloves

24 hours worth of food

De-Icer

Rock Salt

Flashlight with spare batteries

Road Flares or Reflective Triangles

Empty gas Can

First Aid Kit

Booster cables

NOT from Seattle but several places - Oh dear

Would have thought a full can of spare fuel would be better than an empty one ???

Wet and windy conditions will continue to prevail in the UAE this week, according to weather forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

According to the NCMS forecast for today, minimum temperatures are set to test 1°C in the UAE’s mountainous regions while internal areas could see temperatures dipping to a nippy 5°C and coastal areas could see minimum temperatures of 13°C.

I mean that's like WTF?

We may have Air Conditioning, but we sure as sh1t ain't got no form of heating!

  • 2 weeks later...
I went home this lunch time and the weather is fanatsic here. Blue skies, Sunshing seas calm. Rain has finally stopped.

Switched on the telly and I see loads of games have be called off due to the weather.

Have you guys down south got it bad or are the H&S guys fretting too much ?

No its a beautiful day here too. Blue skies and sun. Cold though, around 2c. If games are called off in the south it will probably be because of frozen pitches, not snow.

Well, according to the news you lot are doomed, you're all going to freeze to death, nobody can get out the door and every road is blocked....

So what is the weather situation in reality where you are?

Any pics?

Any MLT snowmen yet?

All we had in Southampton was light drizzle for 7 hours.
