DT Posted 19 January, 2012 Author Posted 19 January, 2012 I hope we stay firm and that Rickie is not tempted. V destabilising if true. And maybe why we're so keen on Hooper.
This Charming Man Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 I think they've now been linked with every striker from L1 to the lower regions of the Premiership. What a ridiculous rumour that is though.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Think they are just trying to upset the apple cart at sms IMO
LGTL Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Yes, we are really going to sell our main striker to our biggest promotion rivals. Also, where do all these so called "west ham fans" keep popping up from on Twitter? Is it a new trend?
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Yes, we are going to sell West Ham our talisman. F**king stupid to even try.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 35 million and he's theirs, isn't that the going rate just now.
CanadaSaint Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Two can play at that game. Perhaps we should put in a bid for Robert Green. The only downside to that strategy is that we might get him.
SaintAndy14 Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 35 million and he's theirs, isn't that the going rate just now. Can think of worse strikers who have recently cost 35m!
Bobsleigh Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 And Puncheon http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/westham/westhamnews/9482587.Hammers_offer_for_Saints_midfielder_turned_down/?

pap Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Not sure he'd be interested. Despite them nipping at our heels, they are not playing great football under Big Sam. Don't take my word for it - the West Ham forums are full of people bemoaning the playing style.

Window Cleaner Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Well I'm going over to the old KUMB board to see if I can stir up a bit of interest at say 15 million £. I'd deffo sell Lambert if the price was right and we had time to get 2 or 3 top rate hotshots in his stead.
sussexsaint Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 (edited) Dear West Ham, Thank you xx Edited 19 January, 2012 by sussexsaint
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Why bother posting this shyte?? as if we would sell him to them let alone anyone else in January while top of the league????
Matthew Le God Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Time for a mod to close this nonsense.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Time for a mod to close this nonsense. Why ?? I find it little less nonsensical than the idea that we'd pay 8 million for Hooper. Every player has his price, evidently there's probably little mileage in these discussions but West Ham could easily bid for Lambert and get knocked back until they find a price that might tempt us.AOC wasn't for sale until the cash was flashed and the player made it known that he was interested.

Big difference between Hooper moving from one league to another, and Lambert being sold to promotion rivals having recently signed a long term deal at a financially secure club.

You do realise that this 'bid' is made up by the Mirror journalist in a sarcastic reply to the previous comment about Jason Puncheon. You statement saying WHam 'could' bid might just as well be about Messi as Lambert because in theory WHam could bid for him as well. Nonsense.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Big difference between Hooper moving from one league to another, and Lambert being sold to promotion rivals. Lambert would be nothing without the structure that surrounds him, Guly has scored as many goals from open play. At 30 in a couple of weeks I'd take silly money for him...no question 10 million + and he's yours, provided that we had the time to get Beckford and Hooper in his stead.

You statement saying WHam 'could' bid might just as well be about Messi as Lambert because in theory WHam could bid for him as well. Nonsense. Yes I do, but whilst the subject is open I don't mind discussing it.Lambert is not God.Every player has his price.

shurlock Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Yes I do, but whilst the subject is open I don't mind discussing it.Lambert is not God.Every player has his price. I'd happily take £5-6m for him at the end of the season.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 I'd happily take £5-6m for him. But then again Shurlock we are not Lambo junkies, we see that it's the team that makes him rather than him that makes the team.
holepuncture Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 35 million and he's theirs, isn't that the going rate just now. That would soften the blow I guess, however SFC and the fans have employed Rickie to be our goal machine and to take us to the Premier League... West Ham must be the finest example of sh*t or bust English football has seen since the skates - if they bugger this up or lose the Olympic white elephant they are in serious trouble, with about (£)100 million problems on their plate... Heres to Barry Hearn causing all the trouble, and go away Fat Sam!
krissyboy31 Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 I'd happily take £5-6m for him at the end of the season.Wouldn't be able to adequately replace him for that.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Wouldn't be able to adequately replace him for that. Which is why I said 10, Beckford and Hooper, younger, more mobile, more suited to a side that plays on the deck.
Greedyfly Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Yes I do, but whilst the subject is open I don't mind discussing it.Lambert is not God.Every player has his price. I don't know if you are playing Devils Advocate or actually believe that it's a possibilty, I mean aside that in theory any team, anywhere can bid for anyone. However, Lambert is worth way more to us than anyone else. He could well be the difference between promotion and not. Therefore a price tag of 30million is not an unreasonable asking price to us. That said Celtic could win that Mickey Mouse league without Hooper, they can also ill afford to turn down a tempting offer of 6.5 million plus, which we clearly can (otherwise we wouldn't be offering that much). Thus although not beyond the realms of possibility, in practical terms this is barely a discussion and even less of a news story.
Genk Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Which is why I said 10, Beckford and Hooper, younger, more mobile, more suited to a side that plays on the deck. Yeah Beckford would be fantastic for our "team". A lot of our success this season has been down to the togetherness we have, hence why the likes of Puncheon are shipped out. It's not just about the ability of the player. Lambert isn't going anywhere, ridiculous thread. Obviously a wind up by a journalist
Matthew Le God Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 provided that we had the time to get Beckford in his stead. Beckford has scored 2 Championship goals this season compared to Lambert's 15.
Crab Lungs Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Lambert would be nothing without the structure that surrounds him, Guly has scored as many goals from open play. At 30 in a couple of weeks I'd take silly money for him...no question 10 million + and he's yours, provided that we had the time to get Beckford and Hooper in his stead. Absolutely mental... You could argue Lambert had no structure at Bristol Rovers but he done brilliantly there. Besides, the disruption it would cause the team to find a replacement and integrate them would cost us points, possibly promotion as, sadly, other team would then hike their prices knowing we'll be scrambling around trying to find a suitable replacement.
trousers Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 The only place West Ham are after Lambert is in the alphabet. Fact.

saintscottofthenortham Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Thread cannot be closed before Dalek has had a chance to say..."Very dissapointing if we are going to sell RL to West Ham."
Dalek2003 Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 How negative would you have to be to think we'd sell our best striker and the leading scorer to our main promotion rival? Any takers? Anybody? Alpine? Bueller? Agreed. If we did that it would totally destroy any credibility that the management had unless we bought Rooney from Man U or some other such player.
derry Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 So WHU are offering to write a cheque, more like no deposit and half over five years with a final payment if they are stll around. They've got more debts than anybody else in the division, all they are doing is mortgaging the parachute payments.
Matthew Le God Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Arsenal for Lambert! http://premierliga.net/arsenali-interesohet-per-rickie-lambert/
buctootim Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Arsenal for Lambert! http://premierliga.net/arsenali-interesohet-per-rickie-lambert/ Arse appear to be fascinated by anything with a Southampton shirt on it. Cant we start importing boys from the tyro and sell them off as £12m starlets?
Dr Who? Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Arsenal really do just want to buy our players! He would be tempted..... But please no!!
saintmatt Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Didn't Sullivan say last season it'd be armageddon if West Ham got relegated? Where are they getting their money from, FFS.
