I hope we stay firm and that Rickie is not tempted. V destabilising if true. And maybe why we're so keen on Hooper.

Posted

Yes, we are really going to sell our main striker to our biggest promotion rivals. Also, where do all these so called "west ham fans" keep popping up from on Twitter? Is it a new trend?

Posted
Two can play at that game. Perhaps we should put in a bid for Robert Green.

The only downside to that strategy is that we might get him.

I chuckled :-)

Not sure he'd be interested. Despite them nipping at our heels, they are not playing great football under Big Sam. Don't take my word for it - the West Ham forums are full of people bemoaning the playing style.

Just repeating in case people still don't understand...

Well I'm going over to the old KUMB board to see if I can stir up a bit of interest at say 15 million £.

I'd deffo sell Lambert if the price was right and we had time to get 2 or 3 top rate hotshots in his stead.

Time for a mod to close this nonsense.

Why ?? I find it little less nonsensical than the idea that we'd pay 8 million for Hooper.

Every player has his price, evidently there's probably little mileage in these discussions but West Ham could easily bid for Lambert and get knocked back until they find a price that might tempt us.AOC wasn't for sale until the cash was flashed and the player made it known that he was interested.

Big difference between Hooper moving from one league to another, and Lambert being sold to promotion rivals having recently signed a long term deal at a financially secure club.

You do realise that this 'bid' is made up by the Mirror journalist in a sarcastic reply to the previous comment about Jason Puncheon. You statement saying WHam 'could' bid might just as well be about Messi as Lambert because in theory WHam could bid for him as well. Nonsense.

Lambert would be nothing without the structure that surrounds him, Guly has scored as many goals from open play. At 30 in a couple of weeks I'd take silly money for him...no question 10 million + and he's yours, provided that we had the time to get Beckford and Hooper in his stead.

Yes I do, but whilst the subject is open I don't mind discussing it.Lambert is not God.Every player has his price.

Disagree wholeheartedly.

I'd happily take £5-6m for him at the end of the season.

Posted
35 million and he's theirs, isn't that the going rate just now.

That would soften the blow I guess, however SFC and the fans have employed Rickie to be our goal machine and to take us to the Premier League...

West Ham must be the finest example of sh*t or bust English football has seen since the skates - if they bugger this up or lose the Olympic white elephant they are in serious trouble, with about (£)100 million problems on their plate...

Heres to Barry Hearn causing all the trouble, and go away Fat Sam!

I don't know if you are playing Devils Advocate or actually believe that it's a possibilty, I mean aside that in theory any team, anywhere can bid for anyone. However, Lambert is worth way more to us than anyone else. He could well be the difference between promotion and not. Therefore a price tag of 30million is not an unreasonable asking price to us. That said Celtic could win that Mickey Mouse league without Hooper, they can also ill afford to turn down a tempting offer of 6.5 million plus, which we clearly can (otherwise we wouldn't be offering that much).

Thus although not beyond the realms of possibility, in practical terms this is barely a discussion and even less of a news story.

Posted
Which is why I said 10, Beckford and Hooper, younger, more mobile, more suited to a side that plays on the deck.

Yeah Beckford would be fantastic for our "team". A lot of our success this season has been down to the togetherness we have, hence why the likes of Puncheon are shipped out. It's not just about the ability of the player. Lambert isn't going anywhere, ridiculous thread. Obviously a wind up by a journalist

Absolutely mental... You could argue Lambert had no structure at Bristol Rovers but he done brilliantly there. Besides, the disruption it would cause the team to find a replacement and integrate them would cost us points, possibly promotion as, sadly, other team would then hike their prices knowing we'll be scrambling around trying to find a suitable replacement.

£6m at the end of the season and i'll bite your hand off.

How negative would you have to be to think we'd sell our best striker and the leading scorer to our main promotion rival? Any takers? Anybody? Alpine? Bueller?

Agreed. If we did that it would totally destroy any credibility that the management had unless we bought Rooney from Man U or some other such player.

So WHU are offering to write a cheque, more like no deposit and half over five years with a final payment if they are stll around. They've got more debts than anybody else in the division, all they are doing is mortgaging the parachute payments.
