Saints player on ipad

Just got a new ipad2 and am somewhat dischuffed to discover that it won`t run Adobe flash player and hence Saintsplayer, is there some way round this?

 

And also some guys on here seem to be watching games on a live stream, where do I find this? and is it possible on broadband speeds of around 2.2

 

Thanks in advance for any info.

Not sure about the Saintsplayer issue. But some games will be found on http://www.firstrowsports.tv, or http://www.vipbox.tv. Gerneally if they're on TV somewhere or are the Football League Shows main game, they'll be a stream.

Sorry to hear that you are the only person in the world that didn't realise that apple products don't run flash.

 

I can only get saints player to run on the computer, and most streaming websites will be the same. A couple of services have their own apps like Justin.tv but I doubt you would be able to find a saints game on them...

Nope it is easily solved - just pay for the iSwifter app - that runs flash and I listen to Saints player every week on it !!

I'll be giving that app a whirl when I get in. Will it run all flash based websites? Not that I've come across many that have really caused me a problem yet.

Yes it was designed principally so that people could play their facebook gameson an iPad but you can redirect the web bar to any address - it is essentially a flash capable browser- it is not as smooth as safari and there are delays and occasional server outages but it does the job and I have never missed a saints came since

 

I also use Photon on my iPhone to listen to games when I am out and about but you do need a good 3G signal

click on the bar at the top that says facebook etc and type in http://www.saintsfc.co.uk then go onto the player site - it is slow but I promise you it does work

There is another option if you download the photon app from the app store although I don't think it is free andit streams the website. Again it's a bit slow but you can get the commentary.

Photon is inferior IMHO but works on iPhone as there isn't iswifter on that

 

I disagree that apple products are form over function , flash is an old poor plug in and html5 is far better. I am hoping it won't be too long before the players change to html5

People bemoan the fact that the iPhone / iPad are incompatible with flashplayer but to me it's more the other way around. How about the likes of SaintsPlayer move with the times and stream their video content in the latest 'industry standard' format? Call me non-old fashioned....

It has a FLASH decoder embbeded - not perfect but it does work.

What about the video coverage on saintsplayer? Can it play the highlights footage?

I don't think it's got anything to do with "Apple's power", if supporting Flash was a sustainable market position the likes of Samsung wouldn't have announced they were abandoning it as well - it's just because of HTML5 meaning Flash basically isn't needed.

As ever, Apple were way ahead of everybody in refusing to entertain the idea of allowing the buggy and power-hungry Flash onto its devices.

 

With 50 million iPad 2s expected to be bought this year, plus the hundreds of millions of iPhones out there, all major sites (and minor ones!) will be seeing the light.

 

Flash is dead, people. Get over it and get on with complaining and pestering the web designers and site owners to move on.

Flash was never supported (and thus is being killed) by Apple because Apple likes to have total control over the software that is run on its devices. It is simply protecting its ip.

 

Flash allows people to run pretty much whatever they like on a given device, be it a media player, game or some other application. Apple doesn't like it because it loses them money. It is about a creating a monopoly, nothing more. It has NOTHING to do with being resource or power hungry.

 

Microsoft is following suit with its Windows Phone 7.5 OS I believe.

Essruu, I hardly think refusing to support something 4 years before it is replaced is being "ahead of the game". It might be "playing the game" to achieve an end they wanted eventually (presumably non-proprietary development, or preferably Apple-controlled platform development), and doubtless Apple's success despite their non-Flash stance hasn't helped Adobe, but the 4 years of no Flash has meant that viable alternatives have sprung up with a built-in selling point, allowing opponents a foothold in the market they might not otherwise have had.

I'd be inclined to say that as Apple didn't support flash for 5 years it forced other methods to be developed (eventually HTML5), but that's been the expectation for a long time, and it's the emergence of HTML5 as a viable alternative and the refusal of others to continue to support Flash on their products that has killed it. If everyone else had demanded Flash, Adobe probably would have kept on - but everyone is moving on.

 

Samsung were mocking Apple as recently as June for the lack of flash in ads, so it's a recent decision for them to move on, as is Adobe's decision.

 

Looking at significant devices releases like the Sony Vita, Windows 8 Metro UI and less significant but representative ones like Samsung Galaxy Y, none of them run Flash.
