Easty Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 Can any of you older boys tell me anything about Glen Llewellyn. Did he ever play for Saints or was he just a reserve team player? Cheers Easty

Greenridge Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 My gf asked me yesterday if I knew of him, and did he play for Saints, I don't know so I'm asking! Never played for the first team. Tore his cruciates when repairing them wasn't to the level it is now and he never regained his prior form. Plays for ex-Saints still as well as vets footy.
The Kraken Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 My gf asked me yesterday if I knew of him, and did he play for Saints, I don't know so I'm asking! Not first team, no. Came through the same youth team as MLT and Franny (plus a few others like Mark Blake, Allan Tankard etc), played a few reserve games aged 17/18 (as I recall) then got a horrible, horrible injury and unfortunately never really recovered from it for a pro career. Still used to turn out for the ex-Saints a fair bit.
david in sweden Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 (for those of you who never bought a copy of IN THAT NUMBER..you don't know what you missed...) Llewelyn was one of several right backs in the early Merrington Youth sides....and he made 9 RESERVE team apps. in 1986-87. Main problem was, he was also up against Andy Cook, Alan Tankard, Steve Baker ...and Ray Wallace who all made it to the first team, if only briefly. It wasn't Academy in those days), but many lads shon in the youth sides but never made it to the first team which was Div.! ( Prem.) in those days..

Son of Dave Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Greg went to Wildern school in Hedge End, as did Chris Wilkinson. Greg clearly was talented - always a shame whenever someone does'nt quite fulfil their potential - but not everyone can make it.
