Who cares ? They were a pair of skag heads, one was ugly and one couldnt play bass guitar very well...

You really do think you have to reply to every thread don't you? Normally I just skip past your innate rants but had no choice this time. Ho hum. Whatever.

/ignore

Anyway - back to the question (a good one). I've not read that book (yet) - can you give us a quick summary of why you think Sid is innocent (good Exploited song BTW).

I always think that Sid's time in the USA was all a bit 'iffy'. Who really knows what went on at the Chelsea Hotel that night but something definitely didn't seem quite right about it all.

Have your read 'Lobotomy' by Dee Dee Ramone? It's a bit painful to read (he is all over the place) but it is a good insight to how fcked up a lot of 'em were. Give it a go if you get the chance.

It was definitely a screwy time in the NYC Punk scene around that time. Sid was definitely in a bit of a mess which makes it so easy to believe he did kill Nancy. For that reason alone I'd like to think he didn't...

A couple of reasons why sid MAY be innocent

1/ Local dealer/ police informer ' rockets redglare' delivered dilaudid capsules to their room at 3-15 am , next morning a wad of cash which sid and nancy was known to have was missing, that evening the 'skint' redglare was flashing money in a local bar whilst using blood stainedbank notes!!!! fishy to say the least.

2/ If sid woke at 9.30 am as the police reports said, medical reports say he would almost certainly have been in a black out at the time nancy was supposed to have died

Apparently redglare admitted to the murder to a number of people before his own death in 1999..

Not read dee dee ramones book no,hopefully will though! Englands dreaming is in the post on it's way to me though, you read it?

If it's as good as' no irish no blacks no dogs' i'll be happy

Alpine- Maybe if you grew up watching your mum lying on the sofa shooting up virtually every day you might have been a skag head too

F uck knows who killed nancy but sid's mum killed him.

I read 'England's Dreaming' a while back and remember it being a pretty decent book. The funny thing with the Pistols is that if it wasn't for the interview in the video below they could well have been a pretty much nothing band. This interview (that only went out on local London TV) put them on the front pages and as they say - the rest is history...

If it wasn't for Queen (who were also on EMI at the time) pulling out of this interview then it wouldn't have happened. If Siouxsie Sioux hadn't said 'I've always wanted to meet you' - if Grundy hadn't have had a good few before it... etc etc.

This video includes some comments on it from those involved - NSFW:

I watched 'Who Killed Nancy?' (the film) yesterday.

It leaves the viewer with the conclusion that some mush called Michael was the probable killer - not Rockets Redglare.

Englands dreaming arrived in the post yesterday, 632 pages on the pistols and the 70's punk rock movement in england in general, hope it lives up to my expectations , it's supposed to be the ' punk bible'.

I hope someone writes a biography on poly styrene someday, think jimmey pursey should write his too.

I hope youve got plenty of time on your hands, I got a third of the way through Englands Dreaming before giving up in despair. Its sort of interesting and its my era, but my god is it turgidly written. Do yourself a favour, put the thing down and get John Lydons No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs, that is an absolutely brilliant read.

I have read that myself and your right it's excellent.

Read about 8 pages of englands dreaming and so far it's a bit too detailed for my liking, for example i'm not intrested in a 100 year history of malcom mclarens shop in kings road before he started up ' sex'. was hoping the book would improve.
