NickG Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 Personally, apart from all the press speculation and comments on here, I do not know much about the various forwards we have been linked with. I can read up on goal scoring records but can anyone add more as to what type of forwards they are? I know all are individuals but who are they similar in ability, attributes, style etc? What is the main thing they would add to our squad? Thinking of Hooper, Rhodes, Rodriguez, Sharp and Maynard (suppose Lee as well as not seen him yet)? Without saying they are necessarily better or worse than any comparison, but who would you liken them to? A Lambert, Pahars, BT, Shearer, Guly, Connolly, Lineker, etc
a1ex2001 Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 Looking at the you tube video Hooper is just like Lineker the master of the two yard tap in, doubt he's quite upto that level so maybe more like a better version of Raziac, right place at the right time etc

skintsaint Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 Looks like they are both quick players who play off a targetman...
Gambol2K9 Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 They'd both be perfect foil for Rickie, although i feel we could equally do with a player similar to Rickie to cover for injuries etc

SFC Chris Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 Looks like they are both quick players who play off a targetman... Rhodes isn't quick. Hooper is quick and an excellent finisher. He doesn't always get himself involved when he's not scoring goals but would definitely be a good fit beside Rickie. Rhodes, IMO, is a more well rounded forward. Much stronger and better in the air than Hooper but without the same pace. Also younger but I think he could end up going for far more than the £5mil that's being quoted at the moment. I'd be delighted with either.
S-Clarke Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 I don't think either are quick, they can come across as quick to the eye because they're clever and have good movement - so can open up space quicker than the defenders can react. They both seem clinical penalty box scores, right foot, left foot, head - all pretty standard. But they're incredibly prolific, especially Hooper who seems prolific at any level. And once a goal scorer, always a goal scorer IMO - no matter what level.
NickG Posted 18 January, 2012 Author Share Posted 18 January, 2012 Thanks. So, sounds like Rhodes and Hooper are similar forwards (of the Steve Moran style?). Seems to be split opinions on other threads which would be the one to go for - if we had the choice! What about Rodriguez and Sharp? Had good look at Maynard when we played recently. I think Rodriquez is a really classy centre forward, I'm a massive fan of his. Touch and technique is outstanding and he will be a premiership player before long, no doubts about that. He's got more about him than Sharp and is younger. Shame we didn't get him in the summer, he'd have been class for us.
