Chez Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 There is about an inch in height difference. Are you sure you have seen Jordan Rhodes? I said lithe, not little.
Chez Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 (edited) isn't nippy....is he slow then? Perhaps I'm just comparing him it Lambert when I should be comparing him to Barnard. Actually he ain't quick either Edited 22 January, 2012 by Chez
Dalek2003 Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 But I don't think we will break the bank for a player in terms of a transfer fee, it just doesn't seem Cortese's style. He's very protective of the trust fund that has been setup and doesn't want to pay way over what we feel we should pay, which is fair enough i suppose. I think the whole ethos is to have us run as a sustainable club that lives within it's means, and clubs that live within their means don't spunk £7m plus on a player in the championship. Just what I think anyway. Very true. I think Cortese is happy to build the team gradually even if we inevitably miss out on promotion this season. Matthew Le Tissier Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 Just Seen this, not sure if it's already been posted Southampton have bid rejected for Huddersfield goal-machine Jordan Rhodes Jan 22 2012 by Dean Jones, The People Add a comment Recommend SOUTHAMPTON have had a bid rejected for Jordan Rhodes – but are prepared to go head-to-head with West Ham for the Huddersfield goal-machine this week. People Sport understands Saints had a new offer of £7million for Celtic’s Gary Hooper turned down on Friday. He is their No.1 target but Hooper, 23, states he will not leave yet and Celtic are desperate to keep him. So Southampton are turning their attention to 21-year-old Rhodes. But an initial £3m offer has been rejected by Huddersfield, who made it clear it was nowhere near enough for their prize asset. That has not deterred St Mary’s boss Nigel Adkins and the Southampton board. They want a proven striker to help secure promotion to the Premier League and will return with a new figure of around £5m. That turns up the heat on West Ham, who are long-term admirers and must now decide whether to enter a bidding war with Saints over the Football League’s hottest property. saintscottofthenortham Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 Very true. I think Cortese is happy to build the team gradually even if we inevitably miss out on promotion this season. Inevitably? So we ARE going to miss out on promotion? Just how big is that thing that hangs from the middle of your forehead? I'm thinking you could be up for a record. Want me to make a few calls? Could be something in this for ya. In fact, your such a giant one, I'm 100% sure that there is something in this for you.
scotty Posted 22 January, 2012 Share Posted 22 January, 2012 in what way? Lambert is a big lad with a lovely touch that drops deep, Rhodes is a lithe, nippy, plays on the shoulder forward. Other than both scoring lots of goals through good finishing I don't see any similarities whatsoever. On the other hand, Rhodes and Hooper are very much the same type of striker. There is about an inch in height difference. Are you sure you have seen Jordan Rhodes? I said lithe, not little. Here we go again, MLG and his stats.......... remember the thread when he "corrected" someone who said the Lee Barnard song went "he's short and f*cking hard" by dredging up the official height of every player in the squad, thereby demonstrating conclusively that Mr Barnard isn't actually very short?

Gordon Mockles Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 (edited) Yes and why not ! I'm a bit obsessed with Daleks and have been for decades. I am not interested in aliens only Daleks. Whe I was alad I think I was the only one that was disappointed when the Daleks lost. Now, the Dalek in the background looks to me like one of the film Daleks, unusual colouring, probably not authentic but the lights do. I need to see the base to properly date it. Of course in the 60's there was a travelling dalek exhibition that visited big dept stores. I remember meeting one, of the Daleks and it shook my hand, so to speak. Made a lasting impression. Any saints who are Dalek fans ? Although I've a feeling most of your posts aren't quite sincere & poking for reaction, I'll dignify your response irrespective. A friend of mine has 2 original Daleks in his home, bought at great expense. One signed by Silvester Mc Coy when he was on the news with him for some story. Weird having a Dalek staring at you on a sofa after a childhood of hiding behind them (see what i did there!) lol He also did a rather good version of the doctor who theme. I used to love the Dr Who box at...was it Longleat? Back on topic: I think Rhodes would be an excellent acquisition. I have no idea why, but at least he's not from Norwich. And Re: Rhodes, yes, still can't see how Huddersfield would apart with him just yet. Lazlo78 Posted 23 January, 2012 Share Posted 23 January, 2012 It's an embarrasment to our club that our mandatory Jordan Rhodes thread is only 4 pages long I'm convinced that most other clubs are way ahead of us. Maybe they are cheating though - maybe they start out discussing the player and then they drag all sorts of general arguments in to boost the thread? Like general transfer policy, previous chairmen, twitter discoveries etc.
