The9 Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 What hurdles? You can buy over the phone or online, welcome to the modern world... Compared to when I was living away, buying away tickets is now a huge ar5e pain. In 2002 I paid for membership (not unreasonable given the demand for Prem tickets), I had equal access to away tickets to any ST holder as a result, and could order online or via telephone without paying a fee - or I could go to the home games I was attending anyway and pick up an away ticket for the next match or two on the day - but I generally didn't need to do that because they were the same price if I got them posted. The only exception to that in the first 8 years at St Mary's was the Steaua Bucharest away ticket, because they wouldn't post them out - not unreasonably given the likelihood of getting duplicates from Romania in time. Nowadays, if you're not an ST holder and you don't turn up at the ticket office on the morning tickets go on sale you only have a slim chance of getting a ticket to begin with, and you're paying a car parking fee if you happen to turn up when there's a queue. For any distant fans, even the ones with STs who can actually get a ticket in the first place, that basically doubles the cost of the ticket, due to petrol/train costs - and it's all the more annoying when you're going to be at a match the night before anyway. It's almost designed to annoy.
alehouseboys Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 Isn't there a rule that away teams must have 10% of the capacity? If so we're entitled for 3,500. Clubs have to offer 10% for League games but only up to 3,000. That's why the mancs, etc. only ever give 3k despite massive capacities. The only clubs that give more are the tiddlers like Wigan, Blackburn, skates, etc. What a game this promises to be...thank f*ck I'm a ST holder! This Charming Man Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 I doubt these will be available on-line. What is this modern world you speak of? It says at the bottom of the article they will be, unless they just mean they will if they make general sale (which they won't). They normally do say tickets won't be available online during restricted sale, which they haven't. I'll send you a message on Facebook in regard to the modern world... oh. Well fair play if they do sell these on-line properly, but I won't hold my breath! You called up yet to find out our allocation?

Golden Balls Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 fair play to sth as ive said before but why they get preference over us that have done most away games is b****x, They get preference as the club make money out of them, upfront as well. Whereas with away games the ticket money goes to the other team. It's in the clubs interest to give STHs perks. That's just part of being a STH. It's the same for most clubs and pretty fair I'd say.
