Kitchen - Final stages

Well the paint went really well on the new plaster. I had to bring an electrician in to do the under cupboard lights, fit the cooker hood, and to fit another plug socket.

Tomorrow I will finish the painting with my second coat, and then prep the tiling area flatten and clean, and then get tiling.

Anyone got any hints with the tiling? I already have. I diamond tile cutter with water tray, and I am ready to go. Should I start at the edge or in the middle?

Then all I have left is the flooring and skirting.

Really enjoying this project!

Dr Who, my electric oven is broken. If I buy a new one is it easy enough to swap and install myself?

Yes, very. Three wires to come out and go in the new one.

Having said that, you should always get a qualified electrician to certify your work - I'm guessing your insurance would be invalidated otherwise....

Still, it's not rocket science is it ;)

Yeah, start in teh middle and tile outwards. If you're tiling onto new plaster, it is good advice to use a primer on the walls and make sure you allow for some wasteage. My tile cutting, although good, resulted in a few more breaks and chips than i bargained for, which is a pain if the tiles have to be ordered. One of the lads on this forum did my kitchen (good job too, Ben!) and maybe i should have let him do the tiling too! :)

Good luck!
