Yago Falque Joins on loan from Spurs

Reading that makes it very clear why he is here - if anybody can help him develop and find his feet, it's us.

I'm really excited about the prospect of Falque and Lallana together, switching sides, running circles (figuratively) around defences. Exciting times and definitely a sign of intent, this is a great capture.

OS article is confusing as it says he is still on the books of Juventus and then that Spurs have signed him permantly.

Happy to have him on the bus - even temporarily - but sincerely believe the squad needs a boost by a marquee "better than what we already have" signing and not sure either Lee or Falque meet that criteria. Hopefully that big signing will happen but not sure it will.

We have been strongly associated with Hooper today but the news from Glasgow leads me to think he has decided to stay with Celtic for now.

We are clearly trying for that marquee, but on the face of it this Iago lad could well be a major boost for us even though he is unknown. His pedigree is certainly impressive anyway.

According to wiki, he's been with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Villareal, but has never played in a first team match for any of them. He could be amazing or he could be a player that never lives up to his potential. We may actually have to judge him by how well he plays.

Incredible isnt it ?

If he helps us to the premiership then goes back to his club so what ? Its football, it happens.

You're right, but if you knew for a fact Lallana and Lambert were joining Spurs in 6 months would you love them a little less?

If he was really crap would Spurs of signed him permanently?? Wouldnt they have just let the loan finish?

By the time the end of season comes Redknapp will have signed a couple more wingers and will probably have forgotten about this guy (particularly if they are in the CL). We can then either sign him outright or take another year's loan. Either way, just get us in the PL first before worrying about what loanees are gonna be here when we do.

I think I saw him play as a sub for the Spuds in one of their Euro games, seemed to be playing pretty centrally at the time to no great affect, for what that's worth. They had another lad Carroll playing in the early rounds though out on the left wing that I was hoping we'd go in for actually as he really did seem to be the business.

We Shall See.

Well there arent many internationals at Saints at the mo and now we have two more so I'm not gonna complain.

This. Criticism that we're not doing enough is a bit ridiculous IMO.

This lad sounds a good signing on paper, and strengthens us in areas where we have the least quality cover. Lee sounds decent enough too, though the jury will clearly be out on both. But its encouraging enough to see what we're doing, so I'm not sure where the pessimisim comes from.

This. We help him, he helps us. Sounds like mutually good business sence all round - pleased with this.

So that's our winger/creative midfielder then. I was hoping for Matt Phillips from Blackpool on a permanent, Jonjo Shelvey on loan from Liverpool or Soriano from Barca B on loan when someone said Spanish! . They say he can play in lots of positions so I hope he not our 'other striker' as well.

I can't say that I'm wowed by this signing as he's moved around an awful lot for a 21 year old. Suggests he wasn't good enough for Barca and Juve or has an attitude problem of some sort and they both got rid of him because of it.

I also thought we were supposed to be building a team for the Premiership - a 21 year old Spanish player on loan doesn't quite fit that bill. An 'Arry Redknapp hand-me-down doesn't feel right either. By the time he's adjusted to English football he will be back at Spurs.

Where does this leave us with Puncheon as it doesn't look like he going anywhere is part exchange - or get a place in the team. I think we'll end up selling him to Blackpool for something far short of what we'd hoped for.

It also looks like we don't actually have a lot of money to spend - or wont spend it if we do. It will be loans for us I think. Matthew Kilgallon, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Adam Hammill on loan anyone?

I remember the signing of Danny Guthrie producing a pretty underwhelmed response by most, but he turned out to be exceptional for us.

Or "a bit better than now-League One's Darren Potter" if you want to look at it a different way.
