S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2579341,00.html An attacking midfielder, possibly the winger we've been after!
Saint-Armstrong Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Southampton have acquired the services of Spanish starlet, Iago Falque on loan until the end of the season, after Spurs completed a permanent transfer for the winger from Juventus. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2579341,00.html
krissyboy31 Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 On OS now signed permanently by Spuds from Juve then loaned out to us for the rest of the season.
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2012 Author Posted 16 January, 2012 seriously underwhelmed! lol Why? Looks like a great signing reading up on it.
LGTL Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2579341,00.html
Appy Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Great stuff, should fit in with our style very well.
Lazlo78 Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Come on people, it's fair enough that Sibley uses social media to make us visit the official site more often. No need to get all insulted Spanish lad looks interesting - to me it's one of those "in Nigel I trust" players, as I know nothing about him...
smithy Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Sounds like an exciting signing, lets hope he settles in and does the business.
IOWSaintDaz Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Yago Falqué WTF!! A Spurs reject where the hell is Hooper!!!
beatlesaint Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 a winger who can play on the left or right !! Excellent :-)
Crazy Diamond Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Come on people, it's fair enough that Sibley uses social media to make us visit the official site more often. No need to get all insulted Be quiet Jordan.
CityRanger Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 He sounds good actually, just read up on him. Just wanted to be 1st underwhelmed poster thats all sorry
madruss Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 http://www.itv.com/sport/football/news/profile-iago-falque-spurs-new-signing-14213/ Sounds pretty good if you ask me!
Appy Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Yago Falqué WTF!! A Spurs reject where the hell is Hooper!!! I hope that is tongue in cheek.
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2012 Author Posted 16 January, 2012 Yago Falqué WTF!! A Spurs reject where the hell is Hooper!!! How is he a spurs reject? Assume that's a tongue in cheek comment.
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2012 Author Posted 16 January, 2012 If I'm honest with you, this guy sounds like the nuts. Really talented, can play left, right, in behind the striker. Pacey by the sounds of it and incredibly talented with the ball....annoying that it's a loan, as I'm sure Spurs will have him back in their team next year. I remember the signing of Danny Guthrie producing a pretty underwhelmed response by most, but he turned out to be exceptional for us.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Very happy with this! This is a piece of the jigsaw, only a couple of pieces missing I'd say.....
washsaint Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 What is wrong with blooding our youngsters as opposed to other teams unproven youngsters?
adrian lord Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 I guess he wants experience at the English Barca.
Foxstone Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Anybody got a view on him? Looks exciting on paper- His pedigree is mighty impressive so I think we can perhaps look forward to a great addition to our season
Sour Mash Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Hard one to call. Could be very, very good. Got to wonder why he's moved around so much. What do we reckon? Back up off the bench for Lallana?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Await MLT popping in with an "i told you so"
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 OS article is confusing as it says he is still on the books of Juventus and then that Spurs have signed him permantly. Happy to have him on the bus - even temporarily - but sincerely believe the squad needs a boost by a marquee "better than what we already have" signing and not sure either Lee or Falque meet that criteria. Hopefully that big signing will happen but not sure it will.
sambosa75 Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Came through the academies at Real Madrid and Barcelona... Not a bad footballing education that...
krissyboy31 Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 a winger who can play on the left or right !! Excellent :-)I know a song for that!!
Redondo Saint Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 how do you pronounce that? e r go fal ko
sambosa75 Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Hard one to call. Could be very, very good. Got to wonder why he's moved around so much. What do we reckon? Back up off the bench for Lallana? Because he's been at some top, top clubs. His record at Villarreal wasn't exactly shabby.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 If FM is anything to go by, and it usually is pretty good, the guy is top class. Very happy
sotonjoe Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 It's a loan till the end of the season, not a season long loan. Sorry to sound like Matty Le Bore. Always a bit dubious about loans when there is no view to a permanent signing, but looking forward to seeing what he's got.
beatlesaint Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 What is wrong with blooding our youngsters as opposed to other teams unproven youngsters? Tongue in cheek comment I assume.
Bearsy Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 (edited) I don't like loans unless they're with a view to a permanent signing, which doesn't seem likely if he's only just signed for the Spuds. However as NA has been doing so well for me I'm going to let him have this one. Bad news for Holmes though I'd say. And De Ridder! Edited 16 January, 2012 by Bearsy
Lazlo78 Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Be quiet Jordan. This line is an instant classic: 21 year-old Falqué played for each of the Real Madrid and Barcelona youth sides before turning professional, becoming accustomed to the style of passing play that Saints also promote. Now we're so great, that only players from La Masia can actually get on the bus
SNSUN Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 This guy is supposed to be class. Shame it's not a loan with a view to a permanent, but I reckon if he succeeds here then Cortese could sort it! Redknapp doing us a favour? Seems weird. Must've signed for Spurs under the radar though, because I can't find a lot on him making his move to Spurs permanent. At one point in the article, it says he's on the books of Juventus, then towards the bottom it says he's signed for Spurs full time. I hope we haven't done a dodgy Redknapp deal with the devil himself and will get rollocked for it.
Appy Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Hard one to call. Could be very, very good. Got to wonder why he's moved around so much. What do we reckon? Back up off the bench for Lallana? Or they will play together, alternating.

Stattmeister Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Because he's been at some top, top clubs. His record at Villarreal wasn't exactly shabby. I agree - breakthrough in those clubs is not easy... Wiki claims that record was Villareal B, but I'm not sure what the equivalent level is here. Notheless an exciting signing for me!
Jonnyboy Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 Await MLT popping in with an "i told you so" Was trying to remember who was predicting this :-)
Mouldy Coat Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 I think he'll play right side of midfield, should balance out our formation nicely hopefully...we'll see
Stattmeister Posted 16 January, 2012 Posted 16 January, 2012 The best thing about that article was this picture. Comedy gold. Cripes - looks like he's melting a la Raiders of the Lost Ark!
