Darlington: going...going....gone?

Mental club. Pretty much about to disappear out of existance. Shame really. They have a nice stadium - I don't know the ins and outs of it, but I'm asuming that's very much a big part of their problem.

Manager and all their first team players have just been axed by the administrator.

Tragic that 5 years after our own Administration the Football League has been unable to negociate with the Premiership a means to aid and support clubs in the lower leagues. My sympathies to the Darlington Supporters.

Great story here about a kid scouting for Darlington

It really is a shame but these days it's not the end of the world to see your club go out of business, as daft as it sounds. As AFC Wimbledon fans will proudly tell you, and chant, "It only took nine years" - that's how long it took to go from Combined Counties League to League Two. They could well come back better than ever.

It's stories like this which make me detest Portsmouth even more.

What they owe and what they've got away with is probably levels above what Darlington ever did, yet look.....they're about to go out of business, yet Portsmouth are still paying players pretty big wages. The football league need to have a long hard look at themselves.

It is sad to see any club go, but it is the smaller clubs that go far to easy. There needs to be some support structure, but then the balance needs to be right, or clubs will take the pee. It is harder to get an interested party in a non league club. Look how hard it was for a so called premier league club (at the time) to get a buyer!!
