Football League Away Support Stats

Would be interesting to see an average distance from other teams in your division though it would probably take ages to put together. Saints must have a well above average distance, much higher than clubs in the Midlands and M62 regions.

There's a website, I'll track it down.

Badda bing : http://www.sportmapworld.com/distance-between/soccer/england/championship/

No total mileages though, but that's out there too somewhere.

ADDITIONAL EDIT : I just worked it out for Middlesbrough, Saints and Leicester to get mileage comparisons (could have done the lot but that table's formatting is an ar5e pain):

Leicester fans in the middle of the country have just 1905 miles to travel to all 23 aways this season

Saints fans 2853

Boro fans 3751.

Any football league team below Luton should be ashamed with themselves!
new groundtastic for them though. Some clubs have been stuck in the respective divisions for yonks and it can become a little bit monotonousness.

Luton have always taken very good numbers , a good stat would be to show average home , average away and the % that travel away, saints don't fair so well on that compared to the Luton's and AFC Wimbledons for that.

Our away support is much better now than it was in the prem days which is party accounted for by a) in those days we seemed to go to the same old ground year in year out and b) we actually win some away games now

Is that right?? I'd have thought they'd be well up for it! What are they going to do if/when they meet in the league?

The policy has always been no one turns up, home or away. I can't see it changing either. The Wimbledon Guardian has launched a petition to get Franchise to drop the 'Dons' from the end of their name too.

Anone know how its going to work for Watford and West Ham tickets? Just had a look on the football ground guide website and it seemed to suggest that both tend to only give about 2.2k tickets, but for the West Ham one it can be up to 3.6k. What are our chances of getting bigger alloations for either of these? Will both be a case of us getting an initial allocation and seeing how many/how quickly we sell those? Would be great to take 3k plus to both.

As suggested elsewhere, Watford had been sticking with the 10% rule and giving visitors just over 2k, but have apparently relaxed this and have given larger allocations when there has been demand, due to them never selling out anyway. West Ham will have to give us the option to have a 10% of the capacity, which is about 3.5k. I imagine we'll get an initial allocation of 2k or so, with more available up to 3.5k (ish).

Yeah, but my post is, does anyone know how these additional allocations are managed? For example, on what basis would Watford give us more tickets? How do West Ham allocate their additional allocation? Is it at a non-return basis for the visiting club, therfore putting off teams taking the extra allocation, especially at West Ham prices? Given the demand for tickets for recent away games, we would easily sell whatever allocations we were given for them. The club would have to be pretty daft not to take the most we can possibly get... oh.

My fear exactly. We'll hopefully find out pretty soon one way or the other, particularly for West Ham.

Luton are in their second season in the Conference now, the new ground effect will have mostly disappeared from playing most of the same teams last season.

So what we need now is someone to normalise the attendance data to total distance travelled to remove this factor from the figures.
