Interesting to see that AFC Wimbledon have a bigger away following than MK Dons at the moment.

I'd say more inevitable than interesting. When they were in the Combined Counties League, their attendances at away games alone helped teams generate enough money to actually keep running for a season. They have a brilliant set of fans, I know a few personally.

By contrast, the Franchise forgot to cover part of the pitch on Saturday and Carlisle fans, doing a 600 mile round trip, were told at around two in the afternoon that the game was off. A non-league game seven miles away went ahead.

Carlisle are apparently furious about it and I don't see why they should have to endure a midweek away game later in the season at MK's advantage. I'd award Carlisle the 3 points and not change the goal differences, that seems very fair IF MK have been found to have been negligent and the game could and should have gone ahead. Alternatively, play the game at Carlisle.

Cokehead and Chairman Pete Winkelman admitted it was their fault on 606. By the sounds of it, their ground staff just completely forgot to cover a part of the pitch. Ridiculous. He says they're going to make it right, perhaps in the form of reimbursing Carlisle fans who spent about £200 in petrol. He also reckons they were due to have their biggest home gate EVER. If that's true, that's ****ing hilarious.

Sadly, as good as your idea is, the FA let the move happen in the first place, you can hardly trust them to be as sensible as in your suggestion. They also said forming AFC Wimbledon was 'not in the wider interests of football'.

Worth noting that Saints have still got "attractive" away games at West Ham, Leeds, Birmingham, Boro, Palace and Hull to play, all teams in the top 12 on that list and therefore "big clubs" in this league. Those matches will raise our average significantly. We've already trekked to Barnsley and Burnley and Ipswich midweek, which are the kinds of matches where you lose fans...

One other thing of course, we miss out on the opportunity to take 3000 to Southampton... so compared to (say) Doncaster, who have to play all bigger clubs, we don't get an away attendance boost from one extra big team. No different to West Ham, Leeds, but actually disadvantaged against the likes of Skate Cheats FC (and we're still miles above them).

Good numbers from us - especially given we have to travel longer distances on average than the midlands lot!

Would like to see figures from last season, although official numbers will be lower than the amount we actually took to many games last year, especially towards the end of the season!

They've already said that any Carlisle fan that had travelled will get a refund for the original ticket, 2x free tickets for the rearranged game and free travel.

Spot on, apart from this - wouldn't describe Hull away on a Tuesday night as "attractive" lol!

Wow, giving Carlisle an extra free ticket in an empty stadium for a midweek match, how very generous.

They'd be lucky to fill half the away end for a midweek match even if they were giving out free money in the ground.

Well, it's a nicer ground than they used to have, and I haven't been yet, plus they're in the top half, so it's getting there.

Then again we've got Peterboro in a midweek game, so that's going to take some effort... though apparently I've got mates who've sorted corporate for that - if I can get there...

Indeed. I'd ask for the money, it's bad enough going to Milton Keynes without having to watch a game of football there.

Unfortunately re: the FA/FL you are of course right. Carlisle have been in top form and would've won that IMO. Now they will have to go down there midweek with less fans behind them and probably lose. You've only got to look at the FA/FL's recent handling of Pompey to see what a joke they are. Would love it if MK draw AFC in the Carling Cup away next season! Definately one for being televised I'd imagine.

I know it was their error in the first place but they didn't have to do anything for the Carlisle fans, so fair play to them for at least trying.

Disclaimer - I still hate the Franchise scum.

We're a bit unfortunate that some of the nearer games are against clubs with small away sections. We could have sold 2 or 3 times the amount of tickets we got for Brighton and Bristol City. And we could also have sold many more than the 4,200 we got for Reading.

Leeds had over 4k at Palace on Saturday so hopefully they'll give us the same and Watford appear to have relaxed their restriction of 2k for aways as West Ham were given 3,700 when they went there.

In that scenario, not a single AFC Wimbledon fan would attend and they would consider dropping out of the competition. It nearly happened in the FA Cup last year. AFCW fans dread each draw when the two teams are still in it.

When I was going to Coventry the other week, some weirdo got off at Milton Keynes with a MK Dons shirt on and a Wimbledon scarf. Wonder what he would do if they drew each other?

Peterborough away is completely different to Hull, you can get back by train for a start, only 50 mins from Kings Cross, and not too bad a drive just getting round the M25 and up the A1M, plus they have the best away terrace left in English football, so that is much more appealing than Hull where saints have played a few times at their new ground already, horrendous place made worse by the 5-0 beating we had up there in 2009

Reading had 900 at Watford at the weekend - to give an idea how bad, less than the distance for us travelling to Bournemouth.

I know quite a few plastic Reading fans that have only recently jumped on the bandwagon (despite not even living or coming from Reading) that will attend the odd home game and that's it.

As per the stats above, I applaud Oxford United, and am surprised and confused by Watford.

Unless there are two of them i have seen this bloke before, there was also an article on a handful of them who continued to support the club after the move and do the journey each week, feel sorry for them really.

I think I know who you're both referring to. He's notorious. He claims Franchise are the real club and went on eBay buying as much Wimbledon memorabilia as he could. He's well known to AFCW fans who unsurprisingly don't like him an awful lot. He's a nasty individual.

Carlisle's 838 is very good considering the distances they have to travel. On the other hand Colchester's at 192 is completely pathetic.

Can't help but smile at Hayes & Yeading's 29. Considering it's an average it must mean they took single figures to at least one game.

I think they only took 8 to Wrexham either this season or last

We won't take many to Hull midweek, and Leeds and Brum with 5.20 kick offs on tv won't be too popular, especially considering the prices they charge. Also not too sure how big an allocation we can get for Palace, not usualy all that big?

Can't see how Leeds can take 3500+ to each away game unless they get preferential treatment on tickets.

Isn't it 10% for most grounds so how come they get more than their allocation for some grounds. I mean we could have taken 4000+ to skate but we only got 2800 or so tickets, same with Brighton.Unless of course thay have some massive following at one specific game (like Arse away in the cup 10K tickets or something).

Not sure if they've played any of them yet but they could have 6k tickets for Cov, around 4k for Forest, same for Reading, 5-6k for Boro, 6k for Barnsley, 4k for Burnley.

We're unlucky in that all our local games other than Reading, we just get the 10% allocation and that's it.

Would be interesting to see an average distance from other teams in your division though it would probably take ages to put together. Saints must have a well above average distance, much higher than clubs in the Midlands and M62 regions.

There is one other local club that offers ALL visiting teams 15%, they don't need to as the end can be segregated but unfortunately there's not enough home fans to fill their little ground. Welcome to farrton park.

no special treatment, they just sell out pretty much everywhere and when given the opportunity to take a shed load of tickets they do. They took just under 5800 to Barnsley, and 4000 to Palace, P'boro, Derby and Donny. Last season they had 6000 at Cov. Very impressive away support.

Yep, Ken Bates raping the club with high prices has kept a lid on home gates but they've got a big fanbase.

I nearly went to Uni in Hull rather than Southampton, glad I didn't get the grades... weirdly though I've not made it to Hull's new ground and I've already been to Posh, so other way around for me.
