Dr Who? Posted 16 January, 2012 Share Posted 16 January, 2012 Well here I am on the night feed, so thought I would post something. Had something through the post the other day, and if was offering me the chance of an Olympic £5 coin, for £5. Now there is an offer. Was wondering if any of you lot will be getting one? I quite like the idea of them being in circulation. I take it they will be legal tender, if you choose to use them for the leccy?
saintscottofthenortham Posted 16 January, 2012 Share Posted 16 January, 2012 There is a few different sets. You have to apply for them and just wait nd see if you get them. Applied for a couple for my girls, thinking they were all the same then realised there were all different ones so you have reminded me to get the rest. Very nice coins and yes, totally legal tender, although I'd like to think the girls won't be taking them out of the nice packaging for a fair few years yet. Dimond Geezer Posted 16 January, 2012 Share Posted 16 January, 2012 I've got a couple for my boys. Was sometime ago though I didn't realise there were others available.
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 January, 2012 Share Posted 16 January, 2012 The Mint (and the treasury) hope that you don't spend it but keep it in the drawer. We've still got a collection of Churchill crowns, jubilee half crowns and god knows what else. As for commemorative coins, I rather fancy a New Zealand gold kiwi: http://www.nzmint.com/bullion/products/gold-and-silver-coins#Gold-coins
