He did alright, kept the ball well and used it well - but he came on when we were coasting it. I'm not sure he's who we can call upon when we need something special to win a match in the final 10.

We are aiming for the prem. Hopefully he doesnt get a new contract.

I think we should offer him a 1 year deal if he can prove his fitness. He's a good player to have around, works hard and is a great bloke (won lots of community awards for his work with the local children's ward).

We need to see if he can stay fit for a few months first. He does offer something different to the other wide players and has a decent shot on him.

Think we have said that for the last three seasons, he is too injury prone tbh and would rather free the squad space for a youngster or bring in another backup winger.

Thought he was good when he came on and was unlucky not to score, he comes across as a great bloke too, hope he stays personally.

What u mean the one where he was one on one with goalie didn't have a right foot and turned back?

Speaking of Lee Holmes and the great save that Camp made from one of his efforts. In the build up to that shot I remarked the great header out of defence, right to Hammond's feet that allowed him to set up the play but couldn't make out who headed the ball in the first place. Don't think it was Jos,could have been Martin but not at all sure.Anyone know ?

Id say this applies to Connolly. Nothing against Holmes but he's probably earned about £1m out of Saints and given nothing back.

I like Holmes he seems committed but his injures have prevented him from being a top player for a decent team, he would be a top player for teams near the bottom of this league, i would keep him he can do a job now and then for us for the last 15-20 mins.

Great pro, at the Cardiff away game this season he was training harder than anyone prior to KO and he wasn't even in the matchday squad! Hope he gets a long injury-free period soon.

I've always liked Holmes, I remember in our relegation season when we beat Derby away and he was absolute class in that game. I think he is definitely worth keeping as he is a great option off the bench.

But you have to remember that we'll soon be filling up our bench with a lot of different options.Given that you have to have a keeper and a defender in the 5 that leaves 3 spots for a whole host of players, Holmes won't get near the bench when you have so many

choices. I'm sure that we're just waiting for Rickie to come back or Lee to be available and we'll be loaning him out or just straight out letting him go, same with Forte.

Me too, he seemed to fit in quite well and teamed up with the other midfielders just as though he 'd been on since the start.

To be blunt, you're wrong. There's nobody at the club who gives more than Holmes. Fact.

Not impressed with the lad tbh, he has a decent final ball yea but is slow AND looks to slow the game down, not a decent trait imo, add to that the fact that he is very injury prone. No offence to the lad he seems a decent guy but footballs not about that

think that's a bit unfair, Jonnyboy,

He was first choice shortly after he signed, but we were struggling at the wrong end of CCC, then he got a serious knee injury and was out for a LONG time.

There are always players who miss out because the one they cover for (in Holmes' case - Lallana) are on good form, so when he got back he had a long wait - unfortunately an ankle injury (in training ) has kept him out the start of this season but he's played in four League Cup games, and been on the bench for 8 of the last 9 games. Has played 24 games from start since he signing, and been sub. just as many times again.

I don't think he's let the side down at all, seemed to fit in OK yesterday and was very unlucky not to score in 86th min. after a great save by Forest keeper.

Assuming a fully fit midfield includes Lallana, Chaplow, Cork and Hammond, that leaves De Ridder, Holmes, Morgan, Tandoori, Barnard and Connolly fighting for 3 spaces on the bench. That's assuming we don't sign any other players, which I expect we will. The only reason Holmes has gotten close to the first team recently is because many of our first choice attacking players have been unavailable.

I think he's referring to his exemplary work in the Community which shouldn't be underestimated - there's more to being a saints player than the number of minutes you are on the pitch.
