That was Forest fans - "You are my forest, my only forest, you make me happy when skies are grey" etc...few seconds later at the final whistle?

BOOOOOOOO!

Ha, dodgy speakers on the old lap top! Thought it was Forest, hats of to them for showing that support at the end, they were bossed by us in that second half!

Can't wait to see that loon Cotterill's post match comments - the guy is properly mental and will no doubt say they deserved to shade it based on possession or sommit like that.

We taught em' a lesson.

Let's see what Clottrill has to say about this one, because we were still in control when they were 11 men.

Connolly is a great player when fit and sharp. Could make all the difference on the run-in again, like last season, if it stays that way. Sounds like Lallana is waking up.

To be honest, neither of them were at their best/sharpest today but we were still miles too good for Forest. Lallana's skill gets him by when he's not 100% fit (which I'm convinced he's not). Connolly just needs game time. His brain is first class!!!

Brilliant result! Cork is much better on the right than Morgan, and Morgan was superb in the middle. I think the red card was fair, you can't jump in with your arm like that. Defence were excellent.

I was one of the many who feared we could capitulate in this game, but well done team, these lads are made of some stern stuff. I think we'll go up as champions.

Not according to Steve "loon" Cotterill I bet! Guarantee he comes out with some loopy "on the balence of play everyone in the ground could see we deserved a point at least - probably 3"

Mental.

One think I noticed with these balls and a bit of a bumpy, skiddy pitch is that if you hit it hard and low the keeper has less of a chance.Camp made some good saves with the ball high and at mid height but on the daisy cutter he's as vunerable as Kelvin sometimes looks.

Thought the pitch was pretty poor TBH - maybe something to do with the frost, but it looked bobbly

Properly mental if he says that, as we had 61% of possession!

He isn't one to let the facts get in the way of his nutty opinion! Some of the garbage that came out of his mouth when he was managing the skate.... remember listening to a particulary special interview on Solent when after being confronted with facts that destroyed his mental post match comments he exploded like a proper nut job!

My thanks also to whoever first made the hahasports link. Great stream!!

Great work by Saints. Second half was magic, especially considering the augmentations of late. I am very hopeful that this is the start of our second wind after recent bad luck and ref decisions.

Nice little points gap to 3rd again, and nice little GD gap to the Hammers again.

Need to keep an eye on Brum - coming up the rails fast.

They're doing well, like a steam train at the mo.

They'll struggle to keep a couple of their players this month though as they're being linked away, and they have no funds to bring any in. So it'll be interesting to see what they do...

I don't think they have any room for mistake tbh, even with a win in their game in hand they're still 7 points behind.

Good win against a lame Forest. The game was quiet even before the sending off but after the red Forest just couldn´t handle our possession football. MOTM by a mile was Jos who won everything. I was also impressed by Lallana who might not have had the best game attacking wise but his work rate was great to see. He clearly has his heart in this promotion chase.

Saw the entire game but was unable to post for the 2nd half. What a game!!! :D

First half was fairly even with us looking much better in possession and Forest (somewhat) threatening on the counter. One goal lead looked less vulnerable than I'd have expected from a makeshift team in a minor slump playing away from home. The red card seemed slightly harsh (but not compared to Lambert's!) and was decisive - and for once we closed the game down!

So many positives to take from today - we're much stronger both mentally and squad-wise than I thought.

Honorable mentions to Harding. Patiently waiting your chance and then playing out of position like that, I felt he made the best of the situation today. Had to cut in to cross but seemingly his opponent didn't figure that out?!

The three central midfielders need Hammond and Schneiderlin in the middle and Cork wide to make it work. Any other way it doesn't work. Harding had another good performance on the right. The passing and movement was excellent. It looked like a very good collective team performance today, now have nine days to prepare for two home games and get the injured back in the squad plus a bit of reinforcement.

It could be that we have hit on a good midfield line up for away games. Cork on the right in front of Harding/Richardson/Butterfield for the first hour. Harding, who I have seen play right back a few times including Wembley, looks good there, he seems more solid on the right in spite of being on his wrong side. Good to see Butterfield back.

could have been 6-0 in the last 10 mins.

Lee Camp made fantastic saves from Holmes and Hammond and Martin just missed a ball at the far post when only a yard out!

Second half was classic stuff !

Connolly made his poached goal from 6 yard box look so simple - pure class

Good to see players taking chances from outside box. Schneiderlin's (rare) goal from 25 yards out was really stylish.

Thanks for the hahasports link, managed to watch the last 15 minutes or so. We looked really good - need to carry it forward and we've got some season defining matches coming up in the next few weeks - Leicester, West Ham, Cardiff and Birmingham. If we're on song and fully fit we should be OK, but I've been watching Saints too long to be relaxed about them.

But we saw last week in the second half that it could work that way, today it was the way of it from the start so perhaps we have finally seen the light.I quite liked Harding at RB,not a match for Richardson when fit but does a decent job and works well with Cork I thought.

hats off to whoever posted the stream link on the match thread.

I really enjoyed that. Cracking performance in keep the football. Patient and lots of movement, we looked back to our best with that sort of showing (and let's not forget that is without Lambert and Fonte).

top, top performance, albeit against a poor Forest side.

Wasn't sure about him at the start of the game, but he got more assured as the game progressed. Was it his ball that set Cork loose for the first goal?

Well done Saints...Jos played well as did Connolly.....

Our midfield three Cork, Morgan and Hammond all in good form...

Harding once again did a good job at Right Back....

Good to see Holmes come on but still not enough time to build up match fitness..

I give the MOM to our midfield trio with Morgan shading it with the goal..

Well done Saints....

Well, I said 3-0 but got it the wrong way round.

We still need some players in if we are to push promotion. News on Guly ?

More importantly, that's one of only two victories you've predicted for the rest of the season. We'll only win one more now...

Looking at the table it is very tight. Boro are a strange team and I wonder about Hull coming up on the rails like Brum.

Why are you worried about these teams when you think we're going to finish 17th?

Boro and Hull will be miles clear of lower mid-table - you need to be keeping an eye on the Watfords and Peterboroughs.

Are you still predicting one win, one draw and 18 defeats from the next 20 league games?
