Sheaf Saint Posted 14 January, 2012 Share Posted 14 January, 2012 I just had a new boiler installed and hiding away in a canvas bag behind where the old water tank used to be I found this little lot... I appreciate that a football forum may be the wrong place to be asking, but are there any antique experts on here that might know if there is any value in it? Gingeletiss Posted 14 January, 2012 Share Posted 14 January, 2012 I'd say about £1.50, but being generous, I'll give you £2.00 for the lot!
alpine_saint Posted 14 January, 2012 Share Posted 14 January, 2012 The only piece of advice I would make is to try to find out if it has been stolen or not. Might not be easy. You have to admit its location was odd. Try to get is valued, and if it is some from well-known reputable craftsman, there might be an open case about it. You might be able to date if from the hallmark, if it is silver
Saint-scooby Posted 14 January, 2012 Share Posted 14 January, 2012 Looks like serveral part sets, Tea pot, sugar bowl and milk jug, then the two taller items, I would guess they are silver plated, have a look at the hallmarks on the bottom of each item, that will tell you what you want to know.. Nice find

dingbattigger Posted 14 January, 2012 Share Posted 14 January, 2012 Not sure about the sugar bowl matching, has a different style lid to the teapot. Check all for hallmarks.
Sheaf Saint Posted 14 January, 2012 Author Share Posted 14 January, 2012 Most of the items have 'EPNS' stamped on the bottom which indicates they are Electro-Plated Nickel Silver. The piece in the bottom right of the picture appears to be an exact match for this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-SILVER-PLATED-EPNS-TEA-POT-STANDING-FOUR-SMALL-FEET-/260920292901?pt=UK_Antiques_Silverware_RL&hash=item3cc00fb625
Sheaf Saint Posted 14 January, 2012 Author Share Posted 14 January, 2012 Not sure about the sugar bowl matching, has a different style lid to the teapot. Check all for hallmarks. I don't think the lid is supposed to go with the sugarbowl. The feet of the bowl and the engraving on the front appear to be identical to 3 of the other items so it looks like it is a full set. dingbattigger Posted 14 January, 2012 Share Posted 14 January, 2012 That does look like a perfect match on Ebay. Take off the sugar bowl lid, clean them up and take them for a valuation as a set.
Sheaf Saint Posted 14 January, 2012 Author Share Posted 14 January, 2012 This is a picture of the set. Condition looks to be good (but in need of a polish, obviously)...
dingbattigger Posted 14 January, 2012 Share Posted 14 January, 2012 Nice looking set. I'd be inclined to get a couple of valuations before deciding what to do.
Dr Who? Posted 16 January, 2012 Share Posted 16 January, 2012 Jut been up in my attic and do not thinking have to much worth anything. Old photos, duvets, cd's, sleeping bags, a wedding dress, and boxes of jigsaws... Rubbish. I do have all the Saints home tops since 88/89 season though, one signed. Worth nothing but sentimental value Given that I live in Sheffield, and that the items will have been there since at least 2005 when I bought the house, I'd say it's unlikely to be the same stuff.
