trousers Posted 11 January, 2012 Author Posted 11 January, 2012 @officialsaints: That's 1 change from the side that beat Sheffield United 7-0 in the last round. Matt Young drops to the bench, Mugabi comes in. #saintsfc
trousers Posted 11 January, 2012 Author Posted 11 January, 2012 Robert Mugabi? My money was on post 6... ;-)
Nexstar Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Robert Mugabi? Thankfully not spelled the same
trousers Posted 11 January, 2012 Author Posted 11 January, 2012 Anyone fancy starting a "Song for Mugabe?" thread if he scores tonight...? ;-)
Matthew Le God Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Subs: Johns, Young, O'Sullivan, Bowman, Reed
Matthew Le God Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Kellett clears off the line from a Southampton corner kick after Fielding had failed to hold the initial cross.
Matthew Le God Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 "Off the post! Southampton's Moore loops an effort looped up and over the wall but is denied by the woodwork. The visitors looking dangerous." This is from Bolton's Twitter feed btw.
spyinthesky Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Thankfully not spelled the same He was the lad sent off against Pompey Youth in a League game before Xmas
Matthew Le God Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Goal. Bolton take the lead through Oscar Threlkeld's header. Bolton 1-0 Saints

Saint Without a Halo Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Oops, posted before I refreshed. Do it again worked last time!
sambosa75 Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 We are Southampton Academy, we do what we want.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 The kids seem to know how to win away! lessons to the first team please!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 I think we should play the entire u18 team on Saturday.
dubai_phil Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 officialsaints Saints FC GOAL!! In the blink of an eye, Saints have turned this game on it's head. Jack Stephens runs 40 yards before teeing up SINCLAIR. He did that against the Mancs earlier in the season IIRC
SFC Forever Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 (edited) I do hope you are joking. :>) One or two maybe. Another goal from our lads would be nice. Edited 11 January, 2012 by SFC Forever
EBS1980 Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Wonder if Sinclair might benefit from playing L1 or L2 football for the rest of the season?
SFC Forever Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Saw him against Pompey and he needs strengthening.
JRM Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 If we get through we are home to Forest or Wigan in 5th round http://www.thefa.com/Competitions/FACompetitions/TheFAYouthCup/Fixtures
EBS1980 Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Saw him against Pompey and he needs strengthening. Better staying with the youth team do u think or going to a L1/L2 team to get that strengthening there?
Matthew Le God Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Having been to the 3rd round win against Sheff Utd at St Mary's, I would recommend every Saints fan that can should go to the Forest/Wigan game in the 5th round. It is a good and very cheap evenings entertainment and a glimpse at the future of the club!
SFC Forever Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Don't you feel our backroom boys can strengthen him here with extra training and properly controlled food intake etc?

It is a good and very cheap evenings entertainment and a glimpse at the future of the club! Is also a great way to introduce the kids to our passion for the club.

JRM Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 What is the 5th Round, last 16? yes last 16, Forest play Wigan on the 19th so we'll find out a date then, will be midweek in mid-Feb, i'll definitely go along if in southampton, get as many as possible there to get behind the kids. Up The Saints (Youth) !!!
jawillwill Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Come on you KIDSSSSS!!!!!! You make me sick.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Just back from the game. A bit scrappy, a few players off form tonight, but did well to come back and bossed the second half to be fair. Could have had a few more as well. Bolton worked hard and had dangerous wingers but little else beyond that. They tired quickly in the second half. Our lads enjoyed celebrating the second goal in front of the Bolton fans, who were all booing - they seemed to get a buzz from it. Luke Shaw - what a player. Everything looked so easy to him and his pace is pretty savage too. Much be an instinct he has to be near the ball and when we broke out of defence he was often further than the midfield. Unbelievable engine on him too. Hope he stays.

Matthew Le God Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 It seems Saints academy sides from under 8 up to under 18's are using a 4-2-3-1 system, Adkins referred to this in interview after the Coventry game. This might be the "Southampton style" Cortese spoke of in his statement on the OS in May 2010 and may see the first team use it much more (they already have this season for spells). Makes sense to have the same philosophy for style of play from the youngest academy side right up to the first team.
Saint Garrett Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Can't see Rickie playing in that Formation though, he's not fast enough IMO.

No it won't we are home to Burnley that day, the FA put a rough date on the website but the games will be arranged for midweek either side of that weekend,
