Have we as fans got to up our game?

Agreed. Sign of lacking in proper support copying all that Ultra sh*te. It used to be foreign football fans copying us not the other way around.d, especially when its something **** like humming a tune together that isn't even a proper song.

i think the modern era of crap songs took off around the time of the Sheffield Wednesday band, when it suddenly became acceptable to have a song that consisted of the words, der, der der der, der der der der der, der der, der der der, der der deeeeeer, der der der der der der der WEDNESDAY!

no words, no imagination, no terrace humour, just rubbish copied from Dutch fans i think.

This Liverpool effort one of my favourites they sang a lot last night

Fields of Anfeild Road, we should have that for Archers Road

All around the fields of Archers Road

Where once we watched the king Matty play (AND COULD HE PLAY!)

Danny Wallace on the wing

We have dreams and songs to sing

Of the glory, round the Fields of Archers Road

On that note, anyone know how that new independent Saints Away coach lot have been getting on?

Went on it a couple of times and it was pretty decent until the "Official Coach" lot reported the guy for letting the lads drink beers whilst travelling. You got a few mongs on-board but it was generally pretty good. I've been getting the train again as I can't be bothered sneaking booze on-board like a kid on a school trip. ffs. don't know whether its still going now.

Saw someone wearing a hoodie advertising the coaches on the back at Brighton so they must still be going.

Oh god not the England band. When i've been near them at England games they give me a headache with their repetitive sh*te.

To those who get cheap trains- what tips would you give for finding them?

You mean fans on the official those coaches or the stewards running them?

Is drinking booze on coaches illegal? If not the unofficial coach operator could tell the official lot to **** off and let the lads drink? What is this country coming to?

On the way to football it is, but being a grass on something like that is mental.

They go on sale approx 12 weeks ina dvance. Book them as early as possible (although always running the risk of it being moved for tv etc), use a young persons railcard or anything else, use the relevant train operating company website.....

Or have someone that organises it all for you!

Went on the SAS coach up to Reading a few years ago, for a Friday night game. Think it was the season they stormed it and got 100+ points, and I think we lost 2-0. Was a great laugh, the coach left really early, everyone drinking on the way, then a few hours in the pub before the game. IIRC the stewards and OB were really hot on people being p*ssed and a fair few from the coach were not allowed in. Remember 1 bloke pretty much being carried to the Madjeski

I'm pretty sure that it is illegal to drink on coaches? When playing away for Uni we always get told it is....not that anyone ever listens.

Its been illegal to drink alcohol on any coach in England since January 1981 we used to travel from the bedford place coach station to Barnstable every week whilst doing apprenticeship for the CEGB and used to get ****ed both ways up until January 1981 when we got on with our normal quota of beer and the driver then set off stopped about a mile out and tried to confiscate the lot siting the newly enacted regulations.

Crikey didn't know that. That is one advantage of trains.

Police state.

Mind you, what was it that Thatcher said? Something like "Any man that finds himself on a bus at the age of 26 can account himself a failure..."

I give it only a few more years until it's illigal on trains too.

I could be wrong, but I think it is illegal on football trains (i.e. football specials). I never knew it was illegal to drink alcohol on coaches, just coaches etc going to and from football matches.

National Express and Megabus are both no alcohol I think.

He did. And when they want to ban it completely on trains, they will use the 'success' of underground ban as an excuse
Pretty much the same amount of people drink on the tube now as they did before to be fair, which isn't very many. Would only get pulled up if you're arriving at a big football match or something. Train travel is completely different and there is no-way it will be banned outright for various reasons. For the bigger London clubs going away from home and for bigger clubs coming into London there are often "dry" trains.

I certainly don't stop anyone from drinking on the tube. Smoking yes, but not drinking. Even I miss it - I once drank a half of a bottle of Bacardi between Hounslow Central and Piccadilly Circus. That's a lot of Bacardi. (Granted it was before the ban...)
