Right, seeing as I just spaffed £30 on a ticket for this game I thought I'd start a thread for it!

I ummed and arred for a while about going but after Saturdays win I decided to nab myself a ticket.

Looking forward to it now having never been to the City Ground before (done Notts County though so finding it should be easy enough!).

Is this our strongest available team?

-----------Davis

Richardson - Martin - Hoiveld - Fox

De Ridder - Cork - Morgan - Lallana

Guly - Connolly

If José is fit he will come back into the side, and the above assume Guly, Conners' and De Ridder are all back fit too. If not, we will look a bit light weight.

Forest have picked up (a little bit) having been on a terrible run of form over the xmas period, getting a draw in the cup against Leicester at the weekend, and a first League win in ages the weekend before that.

I'd take a draw from this one, but given that forest have proven them selves to be slightly lacking under Steve Cotteril so far, maybe we could go all out for the win.

Bought my tickets this morning. This is a local match for me seeing as I'm just down the road from the City Ground. Taking my 7 year old niece to this game as well to try and get her supporting Saints in the future. I just hope we beat Forest otherwise the next week in work is going to be excruciating.

No doubt I'll get shot down but are Forest much better than Coventry (league table suggests not) considering how well the makeshift team in the cup did (once they started playing a more comfortable formation in the second half) I won't be to adverse to keeping Ward-prowse or Hoskins in the team considering injuries and suspensions.

I think he did well but ideally I'd rather see Harding at LB not RB (unless we have no choice). Davis back in for Bart and keep the midfield as it was.

People shouldn't just look at the table and prejudge Forest. They have been all over sides, not scoring goals and getting done on the break. They are still a decent side and gave us a run for our money at SMS. If Miller hadn't been injured in the second half I don't think we would have won that game. That said I think he's still injured so we have a good chance if we play like we did at Brighton up to the sending off. I hope we do ourselves justice as I'm driving up with the Forest supporting brother in law so it could be a long drive back for one of us.

Are you Steve Cotterill?

Forest are miles better than their position suggests.

Players like Camp, Cohen, Wes Morgan, Chambers, Gunter etc...don't go from being amongst the best players at this level to utter dross. They've been badly managed for sure, but they'll be a threat for anyone at this level.

The only area for them that is weaker this season is up top. They don't have a prolific out and out goal scorer and never replaced Earnshaw, Blackstock is still coming back from a serious injury so he will take time to bed back in.

We have shown we still carry a threat without Lambert, albeit a weaker one, but we can still cause them problems. I'd play with Width and attack their full backs, because if we give Gunter the space down the flank he will just over lap, over lap and overlap all game long.

Will be tough and it will take a massive effort to ensure we're still top by the close of play.

This will be my 6th attempt at seeing Saints pick up a win on the road. I think we'll do it this time. I know Cov are sh*t but I'm hoping that the 2nd half showing has given the lads a bit of a boost and reminded them how to win an away game.

think it will be a tough game for us but one we can most certainly win keep it tight at the back and take our chances for a 1-0 or 2-0 win.

-----------Davis

Richardson - Fonte - Hoiveld - Harding

Guly - Cork - Hammond - Lallana/Fox

De ridder - Connolly

Fonte in for Martin if fit.

Harding did well in the cup game and deserves to retain his place imo. u could drop lallana for fox or if need replace him at some point in the game.

think it might be worth trying de ridder up top and use his pace on the counter rather than try and rely on guly winning the ball in the air and holding it up. if it does not work then they can always swap postions with each other throughout the game

Richardson Fonte Jos Fox

Cork Hammond Morgan Lallana

Guly Connolly.

Anyone know how long before SDR/Chaplow come back?

Having spoken to Steve, he said that the management want to play in a reserves game this week and based on how that goes he may be ready for Forest. If not Forest he said definitely Leicester

Definitely one of the better sides that we've seen at SMS this season. Would take a draw on Saturday, can see West Ham only drawing at the Skates though.

Course it is. Draw and a home win is bang on for top 2. Just worry about the 46 game points total, nothing else.

Disagree. It's very unlikely that we'll repeat our home form, so we really need to pick up wins away from home, especially against the sides who are struggling. We've got a lot of tough away games coming up, we'll be losing a few, so need to win a few.

Unfortunately I agree. We're an unbalanced side not firing on all cylinders and without big characters on the pitch at the moment. It's not the end of our promotion push, but it could be a defining moment.

I decided to go to this game rather than the FA cup last week-end as i want to see how the team perform in the second half of the season and a good result here could set us up for a good push in the second half, as you say Saint Fan CaM, this could be a defining game.........................

Uninteresting fact of the day:

Unless it wrongly used to deliberately annoy their respective fans, the correct abbreviation for Forest is Nottm Forest, not Notts Forest. Their local rivals, County, however are Notts County. The logic is that Forest's full name is Nottingham Forest, from the city, and County's name is from the ....errr county, ie their full name is Nottinghamshire County.

I think we finishes the cov game something like this;

---------------Bart

Stephens Martin Hooiveld Fox

Cork Hammond Schneiderlin

Lallana Hoskins Reeves

and looked really good! I wouldn't be too disappointed if we started with something similar (depending on who's fit) :-)

Why would we not play Davis/Frazer/Harding/Guly/Connolly. The kids are bright talents but going to the City ground against some very experienced players at Forest is a different proposition IMO.

Agreed, start like that and we will get murdered.

If we have no fit senior right back available then I'd think that either Harding will carry on there or Cork will be asked to deputise once again.Fonte should be back by this time unless of course he has aggravated his injury by playing 2 matches with it.

Might be inclined to see what Hoskins can offer at NPC level from the bench though.

This is a must win game after our poor form over the last 8 and probably our last chance to stay top. Can't see any sort of result myself with a disrupted and partially demoralised team, so I'm down at William Hill's for a 3-0 defeat.

"What we don't want to do now is allow our concentration to lapse and let in three silly goals". There Dave, it's been scripted for you already.

Oh ****, Leicester next week!

With Gully off form and still winter for me Hoskins could be someone who can help us, played well coming on against coventry, would be pretty tough on harding not to feature as well. NA needs to play a standard 442 not the diamond crap.

Despite this, Notts county's ground is actually in Nottingham City, where the Forest ground is over the river in West Bridgford, part of Rushcliffe Borough council's juristiction, and therefore more like the county of Nottinghamshire. A bit like St Mary's being in Stoneham. A bit, but not a lot because the City ground is still pretty central.

Jeez. I've bored myself. Looking forward to going, nice local one for me.

Tickets still available online, think Forest sent us just over 2000 tickets so I'd be surprised if we shifted that lot!

Just tried on line and it say SOLD OUT ffs.

I thought we were supposed to be playing crap.

Just managed to wangle my way out of work early so that I can get back home in time, Mrs Eoa gives it the green light with a nightstop in Nottingham and now its sold out.

Away section for me then I guess unless they allow Pay on the day in away section?
