SaintAndy14 Posted 10 January, 2012 Share Posted 10 January, 2012 Would be quite funny to see Kenwyne Jones come back just to see the amount of abuse he would get! Still remember the game (I think against Stoke which is ironic!) when he refused to play and we sent some very abusive chants his way from the Northam - "Kenwyne Jones, what a w*nker, what a w*nker!" and so on! Saints foreva Posted 10 January, 2012 Share Posted 10 January, 2012 Its unlikely that we will sign him but if we did and he scored goals to take us up, everyone would forget that he once went on strike to leave the club.

I don't think they would! If you refuse to play for Saints whilst still happily accepting your wages from the club you can get out and never come back. VectisSaint Posted 10 January, 2012 Share Posted 10 January, 2012 Clearly unlikely, but I would have him back like a shot if the opportunity arose. Had the sense to get out before Burley was able to blight his career in 2007, asked for a transfer, the "strike" was just talk, Burley would probably have played him in goal anyway. We got good money for the bloke (probably far better than was reasonable) and he is probably just the type of striker we could do with. 3 or 4 goals and all the forum warriors would eat their words. Will it happen? Will it feck.

I don't know, maybe it suited the club, after all if he had played maybe we would have lost out on his (over the odds) transfer fee. Not trying to deny the word strike was used, but I just wonder whether if SFC had pushed him he would have played. There was a lot of **** going on at the time, and I'm not sure what I believe from Burley or Lowe. All I know is that I would not hold it against KJ if he were to come back and put in a few shifts, because frnakly he was a great player and if he could bring some of that back to help us I for one would be very pleased. I'm not one for holding a grudge for the sake of it.

hypochondriac Posted 11 January, 2012 Share Posted 11 January, 2012 Jones either trebled or quarupled his salary by leaving us...what would you do in his position...be honest Plenty of strikers make moves to a bigger club without going on strike. There are plenty of smarter and more professional ways to go about it.
