Gary Hooper

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache

Maybe but what if the Celtic board are more willing to negotiate a fee than Lennon would like or admit? What if Hooper is making it clear that he's not as happy as his proclamations on their OS? That way they may be more anxious if we go elsewhere? Just a thought really.

A distinct possibility.

I've felt for a while that we will be back in with a last day offer for Hooper: Sharp may be a tool to push things along quicker.

How do you know?

I don't believe it. We have moved on, were never going to spend 6 million on Hooper at any rate and Celtic aren't going to sell their star striker to a championship team for anything other than a largely inflated price in this window. It's not just the money, it's a matter of pride. We have had numerous denials and Hooper saying he wants to stay whilst Adkins says he has pretty much given up. The summer may be a different matter.

Yep players who have said they are happy where they are, have never moved on a week or two later have they. Players who seek a much improved deal, but have been turned down by their club and offered a lot more somewhere else also never move. Young, english, pacy forwards who have a great track record but also have a lot more potential to come are always available for peanuts when under contract at a large club. Clubs who have plenty of finance and a very real prospect of premier league football soon, and who need to strengthen now as well as prepare for the very tough challenge next season never would spend decent money. Thanks for clearing it all up

And if we win tomorrow we'll be top and 4 points + goal difference ahead of 3rd, having had a poor run of form (bar the last two games). That's also a fact.

You could have said that our recent away form is excellent, as we've won 2 games on the road on the bounce. That's a fact.

If you extrapolated our last 8 games out across the season, then we wouldn't be top, granted. But it's never that straightforward. If we do in the second half of the season what you didn't think we'd do in the first half of the season, we'll probably be promoted automatically (based on past points tally for auto promotion).

Your opinion seems to be that we won't get promoted, which is fine by me, as that's your opinion. Personally I have no idea. I hope we do, but there's a lot of twists and turns from here.

Make that 9 ! Oh, by the way have we signed Hooper yet as I promised to self destruct if we had not that i thought it was ever likely !

you know everyone is holding their breath, Dalek..waiting for Tuesday midnight to see if Hooper does sign..

IF he does.... are you going to do your impression of a suicide bomber in public, or will you quietly implode at home ?

If it happens I will have to self destruct. Trouble is the daleks always have a habit of coming back in a different form and from a different time zone. So Dalek in name but different type of Dalek.

For Celtic to sell their star player to a championship club would be a bit of a kick in the teeth for all those who think that Celtic and rangers could hold their own in the prem.

'Top of the SPL Celtic sells star player to lowly championship club'.....not a headline that does their cause any good.

It has been pointed out many times that with premier resources Celtic would hold their own in the prem and their top players would be of a higher calibre than Hopper.

Just one more reason why it won't happen (not now anyway.)

You really are a dull and tedious individual.

If you're able to read, please go back and tell me where I said we would definitely sign Hooper? I said that, in my opinion, we would make another bid. That was it. End of story. Please allow me the courtesy of having an opinion.

Of course you are entitled to an opinion, and other people are entitled to question it as well. Your opinion is that we'll make a third bid (not sign) and strangely enough given that we've said that we're not interested, the player has said he's happy and Celtic have said they don't want to sell, many people disagree with you. I'm not sure what your problem is with people questioning or asking you to justify your opinion is? Surely you should have expected that given you have nothing to back it up with except your own guesswork. Of course you may well be right but you're probably not and that's all anyone is saying.

Always makes me laugh when people hide behind the "it's just my opinion" argument when they're pulled up on it as if anyone is trying to deny them the right to an opinion. No one has said that - merely that you're probably wrong. There's been a few instances on this thread (not always you) where the conspiracy theorists have rather weirdly asked people to justify why we won't go back in for Hooper (as if we needed any more evidence); I think Hypo had one a few days ago.

I'm sure you'll base your justification on the fact that Celtic made the bid public, conveniently forgetting that actually it was probably Celtic reacting to press reports and not instigating anything. Nigel does it all the time.

So don't get all annoyed - I'm just saying that you're probably wrong.

You don't mean time zone, you mean a different time, or time space continuum if you want to sound clever. A different time zone would be France, and I don't think the French would get you.

I would appreciate the same if you don't mind. BTW I am happy that you have an opinion, but it annoys me when people change their opinion without ever admitting to it. It's like the boys in the playground, changing their teams to the latest flash in the pan, hoping people will forget their history. Or, the football shirt 'changers'

I really hesitate to ask but DWAS?

Dr Who Appreciation Society. Kept the flame burning during the bleak days of the 1990's. Obsessively bombarding the BBC to bring back the Daleks. Apparently the BBC became fed up of 40% of all enquiries being about the minute detail in Dr Who eposodes !

I clicked this thread hoping to see some news about Hooper. What do I get? A bunch of idiots arguing.

On other forums trolls like Dalek are sniffed out after a few posts/days and are placed on block lists. Eventually they get bored because nobody is taking their bait and stop posting. Either that or people play along and find it funny. It's just a novelty with no harm done.

This is the only forum I've seen where people keep getting offended by the same people over and over and don't do anything about it.

So gods sake mods please close this thread. By all means re-open it IF something happens, but this is boring beyond belief and the last few posts have had nothing to do with Hooper but dialougue between a few posters.

I too am getting thoroughly p!ssed off at threads going off at a tangent due to various posters and their detractors repeating their ongoing debates - which have f^ck all to do with the topic...whether its Hooper or whatever else.

Anyway only a few frantic days of the window left*.

then it will be a "why we did not sign [insert one of several names]this window " threads, populated by...

He predicted 17th with a season of struggle, not being good enough etc. He never predicting proving we are good enough, being top in the new year, then collapsing all the way to 17th. whatever happens, it was an odd prediction and there's only been evidence against it so far. Is it good to stick with your predictions (albeit twist them), or actually learn from the evidence presented to you?

Still, as the trolls and illogical bedwetters go, Darlek is the acceptable face.

Thankyou. BTW it is Dalek ! For one last time I am not a troll !

OK, lets get back on thread. Quite a few posters claimed we were close to signing Hooper. Presumably they had good evidence to support their claims. What was the main obstacle to him coming or do you think it was all in peoples imagination ?

the 2003 was added after one of the Saintsforever reincarnations, I was just Dalek before that. I was a 'normal' poster until the 2004 debacle when I had some sort of 'overload to the system' Never really got over it as many rightly point out.

It seems like the only vapour on this thread was the evidence supporting the claim tha Hooper was coming. Seems like some of our Scottish 'friends' were right despite all the abuse they got !

Don't concern yourself, KPT...if we haven't signed Hooper by Tuesday midnight.....this thread will die a natural death....unfortunately Dalek won't !

But then we will look to bring him in on loan. Just because the transfer window closes on Tuesday thats not the end of it.

On loan ! Never going to happen. I suppose you mean the thread will continue. I think one poster already left that open by saying he will come in the summer. Also presumably siad by same poster to save face !

There is a Story in the Scottish Sun this morning about Gary Hooper going to Zenit St Petersburg or Moscow for £7 million which they say is the figure Celtic want. Surely it would be worth us upping our offer to £7 million if it meant we had him as part of our plans for next season. If we make it to the prem we will need several top quality strikers. Time to dig deep Nicola ?

Eh? WHat would be the point now we have signed Sharp? We don't need any more strikers this season.

We will need extra firepower in the premier if we make it and it would also not be a bad idea for the rest of this season

1) We are not in the PL yet, and might not be come the end of the season

2) Do you think it would be good business to splash £7m on a striker when you already have arguably the two best strikers in the league plus Tadanari Lee, Connolly and Barnard in the squad? Doesn't make any sense - we cannot play four up front every game so we are gonna have to leave either Sharp, Hooper or Lambert warming the bench. Can't see that happening.
