Matthew Le God Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 IF this is true it's a done deal IMO. Jos and Celtic's Joe Ledley tweeted about it. Would seem it happened... https://twitter.com/#!/joe16led/status/159598144890474496
Saint Garrett Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 Now_Football Now Football According to the Daily Mail, #Celtic to go for Yann Kermorgant. #lcfc Striker ?
buctootim Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 Now_Football Now Football According to the Daily Mail, #Celtic to go for Yann Kermorgant. #lcfc Striker ? Charlton striker. I think Celtic were in the market for a striker even before all this blew up so may not mean anything. Interesting tho...
Colinjb Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 Now_Football Now Football According to the Daily Mail, #Celtic to go for Yann Kermorgant. #lcfc Striker ? Yes, Striker for Charlton, ex Leicester (missed a penalty in the play-offs for them a year and a half ago. It inspired a superb Youtube song parody) Found it. [video=youtube;Iad3gV-9C1U]
cellone Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 You's need to learn to speak English. You need to learn how to behave as an Englishman.
doddisalegend Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 Probably mentioned already but I noticed Jos had dinner with Hooper last night. Hope NA got him to have a word.. What you mean tap him up .......isn't that illegal.....
Matthew Le God Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 You need to learn how to behave as an Englishman. Oppress and colonise the Scots for hundreds of years?
dune Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 You need to learn how to behave as an Englishman. I already have a superiority complex.
Matthew Le God Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 (edited) What you mean tap him up .......isn't that illegal..... Impossible to police and easy to do either indirectly or directly especially if you know each other like Hooper and Adkins/Crosby do. I don't think Saints would continue their interest for this long if Adkins didn't think Hooper would be interested, I think he knows he would be. Main obstacle to this transfer happening is agreeing a fee with Celtic, not getting Hooper to want to leave. Edited 18 January, 2012 by Matthew Le God
SuperMikey Posted 18 January, 2012 Posted 18 January, 2012 Probably mentioned already but I noticed Jos had dinner with Hooper last night. Hope NA got him to have a word.. Jos, Hooper, Thomas Rogne, Dominic Cervi and Joe Ledley. Great find for autograph hunters if ever there was one...
BigShadow Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 I already have a superiority complex. My dear fellow - an Englishman does not have a 'complex' about his superiority - he is modestly aware of it, and has the good grace not to brag about it in the presence of lesser mortals. He furthermore will not use it's advantage to the obvious detriment of those less fortunate - excepting that they hail from a PO postcode, in which case they may be treated with disdain and ridicule without fear of retribution from any quarter.
Mouldy Coat Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 In my opinion it looks like the fee has been agreed. Many of Hoopers team mates are suggesting that Hooper has a BIG decision to make this transfer window. To me that's sounds like it is now down to Hooper to decide. Read team mate Anthony Stoke's comments. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/296553
benali-shorts Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Saints and Celtic have enquired about Rob Hulse (The Times). May be relevant to the Hooper deal. Or may not.
Viking Warrior Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Celtic are not poor and have two extremely rich Irish benefactors in the background to fund team development if required . This comes from a sensible Celtic fan I know . Hooper is also happy at Celtic .
St Marco Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 .At a club like celtic we have an excellent scouting team in place who will go and find somebody just as good. Again how is your £2.2m new striker Mohamed Bangura doing? 20 games and no goals? Great scouting you got up there
Saints foreva Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 We are wasting our own time with Hooper, move on and go for someone realistic.
Danbert Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 You need to learn how to behave as an Englishman. Like it

MOSaint Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Saints and Celtic have enquired about Rob Hulse (The Times). May be relevant to the Hooper deal. Or may not. Neither Saints or Celtic should be sniffing around Rob Hulse, total donkey.

Cleary there is a pull, but he is enjoying it there. IMO the main issue is what we might offer in wages -v- whether Celtic would agree to the the improved deal he wants http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?35130-Here-is-the-proof-of-Gary-Hoopers-Skills!&p=1237782#post1237782 Edited 19 January, 2012 by Bucks Saint

Ken Tone Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Saints and Celtic have enquired about Rob Hulse (The Times). May be relevant to the Hooper deal. Or may not. Wouldn't set the pulse racing if we signed him, but he'd be good squad member. Experienced target man and striker, but not a profilic scorer. Weird that QPR signed him then left him out of their official squad. Of course he'd probably look a world-beater in Scottish football
thorpie the sinner Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 No way on earth would we be in for Hulse!! We are looking for players a la Hooper who will be able to take the next step up!

The question then would be more whether Celtic will take a reasonable fee, or just tough it out, since he is on contract and they are not skint.
MongoNeil Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 This is becoming very interesting indeed. It seems to me as if Hooper's decision is between being a big fish in a little pond (which it sounds like he enjoys) or a little fish in a big pond (champ/prem) with the potential of course to become a big fish. Of course the money (if what is being banded about is correct) will also be a big factor. Let's see how this develops, I hope it does come off as like many on here I'm looking forward to seeing Dalek explode as he has promised.

Read team mate Anthony Stoke's comments. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/296553 It certainly looks more likely now than it did a few days ago IMO. These direct quotes from Stokes reveal a lot I think. Jos must surely have done his level best to sell the club too. I wonder if Hooper has met with any representatives from Saints (other than Jos). The plot thickens...

Of course the money (if what is being banded about is correct) will also be a big factor. Nail. Head. For all the derision heaped here on the SPL, winning most of the time, silverware, becoming champions and roared on by delirious full house crowds is very seductive. For some players more so than being mid table in the prem, especially at his age imo. I can definitely see him moving in the summer - but if he left now it would be the money - is that what we're after?
jasonb Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 ... I'm looking forward to seeing Dalek explode as he has promised. LOL I wonder if we can get him to run into pompey town centre when he does it!?!?
Gingeletiss Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 LOL I wonder if we can get him to run into pompey town centre when he does it!?!? That would only improve things down there!
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 I have just got online. Whilst waiting to pick up a friend this morning Hooper walked out of Southampton Airport at half 8 and into a waiting car. Something must be going on. Dinner party at Hooiveld's place tonight?

saints_is_the_south Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 In response to mehball's post above, thought I'd check this morning's arrivals at Southampton Airport. A flight from Glasgow did indeed arrive at 8.07 this morning. With or without Hooper on board only time will tell!
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Yup, I took a double glance and didnt believe myself. I even checked the arrivals and a plane landed at 8:10 from Glasgow.

ottery st mary Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Have checked with family who work at the airport and drive taxi cabs..... They all said the man was called Lionel and had flown in from Barcelona.. Unfortunately the fare was for the Pompey training ground:o

Pilchards Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Dinner party at Hooiveld's place tonight? It's the footballers come dine with me episode on channel 4.
DT Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 'We lost our hearts to a star called Hooper.' Early song shout.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 'We lost our hearts to a star called Hooper.' Early song shout. Gotta say that is very good! Very good indeed.
MongoNeil Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 IF (and that's a big if) we do sign Hooper I have slightly mixed emotions. How many times in the past have we had our star players taken from under our noses? Now the boots on the other foot I can't help but think how we used to feel when the roles were reversed.
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Gotta say that is very good! Very good indeed. Not bad, but with slight homoerotic overtones. B-
pap Posted 19 January, 2012 Posted 19 January, 2012 Well, if he's here, Saints are obviously going to be 35Million lighter. Why didn't we just go for Tevez, ffs

Oh yeah I'll be shelling out loads of sympathy based on the amount we received for Bale/Walcott/Chamberlain. (This is sarcastic, BTW)
