Verbal Kint Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 We may just pay the money in the end. At the end of the day he's British and is young. NA clearly believes he has the ability to perform in the Prem, and having worked with him before he is in a very good position to make that judgement. If he scores the goals to take us up and then goes on to score 10-12 goals in the Prem he'll be worth significantly more than the 6 or 7 mill we're rumoured to be offering. Resale value is everything
shurlock Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 (edited) No way it will happen in this transfer window- Hooper's gone on record and the sweaties have been pretty firm. Looking for smoke and daggers where they don't exist. Of course, would f**kin love it if it did. Edited 18 January, 2012 by shurlock

revolution saint Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11787/7440913/Stokes-wants-Hooper-to-stay Now Stokes is out saying he wants Hoops to stay, there seems to be too much publicised reassurance to the celtic fans imo, makes me think that we are still in with a shout here. To be honest a journo has probably just asked him about Hooper and I'd expect him to answer as he did whether Hooper was staying or leaving. It doesn't really mean anything. sotonjoe Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 Love it. If it looks like Hooper is staying at Celtic, mong Celtic fans come on here to boast about how great he is and that he's far too good for little Southampton. If however they get worried that he might be off, the same mong fans appear on here to tell us how fat and substandard he is. Don't you just love football fans? hooper88 Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 were not worried about hooper going for the right price. You can have him for ten million,he is going to be an england international in time.At a club like celtic we have an excellent scouting team in place who will go and find somebody just as good.Even if he goes to a premiership team, because i doubt he would move to championship,we have such a strong squad now that we could wait till summer to replace him. I thought there was zero chance one of your "celtic stars" would move to little old Southampton? Don't backtrack now hooper88, keep saying we have zero chance of getting him. If we don't agree a fee you'll able to salvage a little bit of dignity by claiming he wouldn't have come anyway. Celticman Posted 18 January, 2012 Share Posted 18 January, 2012 To the guy who said davie weir is one of the best players in the spl, you are wrong he has played 2 games this season unfortunately, he was poor last year as well. Doubt we will accept 6 million for hooper either. On the points made about the spl, people are showing a startling lack of knowledge describing hibs as a decent team if it was for how bad Dunfermline are they would be going down. Hearts and Motherwell are both decent teams as well. I am under no illusions that we are a great team we aren't but I think we would do well in the championship the team top (you's) have 2 starting defenders who were awful for us playing week in week out. Don't get me wrong I think you's are a good team with a big support but I think you are overlooking the fact that we have a good young team who competed well in the Europa League group stages. Bottom half League 1 standard at best. Think I'll be switching over to El Classico at 9pm They are 2 of the worst teams in the league, the top half of the league, us and Rangers are better than most if not all championship teams and better than some perm teams, hearts and Motherwell, better than some championship teams, St Mirren and St Johnstone are lower championship teams at best. Our league isn't very good anyone who says otherwise is stupid but, we are a very big club which attracts a lot of players to us, also quite a few in here seem to seriously underestimate some of the players we have just now. And I still can't believe someone said Weir was one of the best players in the spl. As I am only allowed 3 posts per day I will go a bit more in depth. Forster and Zaluska our 2 keepers would most likely be first choice for you. Matthews and lustig would probably be first choice and Mark Wilson when fit too. Cha probably not. Rogne would be first choice for any team in the championship when fit. Mulgrew has come in to being a very good centre half too. Majstorovic and Wilson are both better than Hooiveld. Fonte would get a game for us. Izaguirre would be a first choice for majority of teams in prem, we don't have another left back haha Forrest would get a game for most bottom 10 prem teams and some top half teams. Our 4 centre mids Ki, Kayal, Ledley and Wanyama would all get started for teams in the premiership, easily the strongest part of our team, some very good players. A fit Commons would be a great asset to any team with his goals. Brown isn't a great footballer but his drive and energy make him an important player. McCourt has a lot of ability but just isn't fit enough he would be good for most championship teams. Llanna would maybe get in our team but would be a good signing for us to add depth. Hooper is a great finisher and easily good enough for the prem. Stokes a very good player has lots of ability flopped in England but he was only very young would get a game for most if not all Championship teams. Samaras is just Samaras can be rotten can be brilliant on his day would tear teams apart sadly doesn't happen enough. Bangura, is just rotten incapable of controlling a ball. Lambert would improve us he is exactly the type of striker we need. Bye all for another 24 hours.

Was thinking more along the lines of why would an Englishman want to stay in Scotland when the quality of opposition is so poor? It's literally 50/50 on whether you win the league and domestic cups - no-one else comes close, which buys you a couple of games in Europe which you rarely win. Fulham, Middlesborough, Birmingham, Stoke, and even P*rtsmouth have done at least as well as Celtic in the last few years. Oh, and on Jos Hooiveld, he's been performing better than Jose Fonte this season. Clearly he wasn't given a chance at Celtic and you've lost a very good centre half for a fairly small sum
