It was in reply to something someone said above not a point about Hooper. I have mentioned that in my other posts that's the main reason I could see him moving to get a call up for England as Sutton shows doesn't matter if you are better than everyone or most of their strikers they wont pick you.

 

Was hard for Sutton to prove he was "better than everyone" in England when playing against SPL sides in front of 5,000 - 10,000 people. I doubt Sven considered scoring against such sides as a good marker for Sutton's talents. Same applies to Gary Hooper if he has England hopes in the future.

Likewise :) I've lost the initial excitement about this possibility of this signing, but still think we'll have one last go at a higher - but not daft - price to test Celtics nerve. A kinda 'final offer' approach in case they then buckle.

 

If that doesn't work out, I think we're sensible enough to know to move on before the window closes and we lose all chances of signing anybody.

 

The world is bigger than Gary Hooper.

I said a week ago I would self destruct if we signed Hooper. I feel even moreconfident that I will not have to initiate that sequence !

 

Anyway, we have at least got two players in, a bit of a gamble IMO

I thought we would be mutual friends the links with Southampton and Celtic with the ex saints players and manager playing at both clubs and also the fact Lennon made poor judgement and given us a decent CB.

 

Il give celtic one thing on fifa online there fans keep beating me in div 3 as that asian player is amazing and Samaras seems to be able to rinse players.

My fingers are firmly crossed. I may even offer to put a few bob in myself just to try and get this one over the line. A tenner goes a long way up over the border apparently.

Adkins clearly had a determination to get Hooper from his interview after Saturdays game.

 

We are still in the chase for him. I dont think his or Lennon's comments mean a lot other that Celtic are taking our interest very seriously....

If we are still bidding he is available, the only criteria is the price and personal terms. If he isn't available we would be going elsewhere whatever is said in public.

I've thought it very strange how this Hooper deal has been so public, I know Lennon has been shouting from the rooftops about it but Adkins has also made a few comments on it. It's not how we normally do things. We'll probably end up with some Chelsea youngster on loan, who isn't very good and everyone will be left rather disappointed.

Thing is, with Lennon spouting it from the roof tops, NA could hardly deny it and he has still been quite candid!

But at least the SWF Web fans will be left happy that we again 'showed interest' in players we didn't sign.
